Terminals were auctioned and will guarantee millionaire investments over the next few years. Jobs must be created

The week of Infra Week, where there was a series of auctions in the logistics and transport, the Ministry of Infrastructure, through the National Watervarious Transport Agency (Antaq), concluded the auction of five port terminals in Brazil. One of the auctions was at the port of Pelotas (PEL01), in Rio Grande do Sul and the rest were in Maranhão, at the port of Itaqui ((IQI03, IQI11, IQI12 and IQI13). As a result, the next few years will see a lot of investment in this area, generating jobs and income.

With that, the companies that won auctions for port terminals committed to investing at least R$ 612 million in the coming years. ”The almost BRL 220 million that were purchased in the grant today are important, they generate jobs, income, the possibility of a more efficient, more productive and stronger port sector, improving our transport infrastructure”, said Eduardo Ney, director general of antaq.

Which were the winning companies?

Port terminals IQI03, IQI11 and IQI12, in the Port of Itaqui, were successfully auctioned by Santos Brasil Participações. Meanwhile, Terminal Quimoco de Aratu (Tequimar) was the winner of the IQI13 area. In Rio Grande do Sul, at the Port of Pelotas, the PELO1 area will be managed by Celulose Riograndense. Taken together, the Ministry of Infrastructure believes that the investments will generate many jobs. ANTAQ collected R$ 216,3 million for these port areas.

"With these results, we confirm investors' confidence in Itaqui and take another step towards consolidating our position as one of the main public ports in the country, essential for supplying the central north region and for the Brazilian economy”, Stated the Port of Itaqui.

This is the main cargo of the Port of Itaque, with a movement of 5,9 tons, but with a forecast of reaching 17,6 million in 2060. The port terminal of Pelotas, won by Celulose riograndense there was only one offer: R$ 10 thousand. The port is strategic in the movement of logs, being an important point in the logistics of the region.

Millionaire investment in port terminals in the coming years; many jobs will be created

"Five extremely important terminals. R$ 600 million in investments. (…) it was an excellent result for Brazilian logistics. Our ports are increasingly efficient and the port bottleneck is being left behind'', assured Tarcisio Freitas, Minister of Infrastructure.
