Equinor has selected the Brazil-based joint venture GranIHC Services to perform offshore connection and commissioning services for the second phase of the Peregrino heavy oil development in the Campos Basin. The 21-month contract, effective January 1, includes planning, mobilization and execution.

The contract is aimed at installing the Peregino C wellhead platform, currently under construction in Europe and the US.

The selection provides an endorsement of Gran Investimentos' strategy of offering integrated lifecycle solutions through a 50:50 joint venture with Dutch company Royal IHC.

GranEnergia Olympia's compact semi-submersible accommodation vessel was previously selected by Equinor to provide accommodation and related services during the offshore execution phase of Peregrino's second phase.

The Olympia flotel ended its contract with Petrobras at the end of 2018 and is currently berthed at the port of Açu and at the maritime terminal in Brazil.

Peregrino, which has a production capacity of 100.000 barrels per day, is the largest offshore production field operated by Equinor outside Norway.

The $2,4 billion second phase development involves the addition of a third fixed well platform in 100 meters of water and will extend Peregrino's productive life by adding 273 million barrels of recoverable reserves.
