In a video recorded as soon as he arrived in Macaé, Marco's mother and father were waiting for him at the entrance to the city. The next step now is to get an offshore job opening
Marco Antônio Araújo, 32 years old, who traveled from his hometown Catu (91,6 km from Salvador), in Bahia, to Macaé, in Rio de Janeiro in search of offshore job vacancies, and the most shocking thing, completely on foot, a journey that could take more than a day, if we consider that he had gone by car. The reason could not be more noble: unemployed, the Bahian intends, through this journey, to attract the attention of local companies and thus gain an offshore job vacancy. In general, between the cities of Catu in Bahia and Macaé in RJ, there are 1.500 km, he has been making this journey in search of an offshore job vacancy since the end of October.

The beginning of the story: In search of offshore jobs in Macaé
It all started after Marco Antônio became unemployed, in 2015. According to him, Catu was a major oil industrial center, which ended up running out of options, as a result of the economic crisis that swept the industry at the time.
From then on, the resident of catu, in Bahia, hatched his idea, which he had already thought about for two long years, in an attempt to attract the attention of recruiters and get one of the many offshore job vacancies, and thus re-establish his replacement in the job market.
According to him, the basic courses in the area (Torrier drilling) have already expired, which would require an investment of approximately R$ 5 thousand. On his Instagram profile, containing photos and videos, where he reports his entire journey from Bahia to Macaé, he also tells about the difficulties he faced from the beginning, in search of an offshore job.
The arrival: from Bahia to Macaé, and its mishaps
Marco Aurélio was welcomed by his parents upon arrival in Macaé. For him there is no description of such a moment, he believes that he will soon be able to reap the fruits of all the struggle, and get an offshore job opportunity, but he emphasizes that the most valuable thing will be the trajectory.
“We live in a competitive society, which focuses only on the final result. So, this is a way of getting the message across that the path is much more rewarding and worthwhile than the simple result. This route is actually a message about focus, strength and faith”, reflects Marco.
“I have no words for a moment like this, a surprise like this never crossed my mind, arriving in Macaé with my parents waiting for my arrival! There's no way to describe a moment like this without crying, father and mother you are infinitely giants. I love you so much!“ Finishes Marco Araújo.
