Honda partnered with MUJI and developed a low-cost electric scooter that offers a range of 65 km. The vehicle still has pedals for cyclists and other technologies.
Honda closed a new partnership with the Japanese retailer MUJI for the development of an electric scooter. The result of the partnership between the companies was the MS01, which combines a modern appearance, minimalist elements and black and white finish. The Japanese automaker took special care of the vehicle's motorization, while bicycle designer Kenya Hara, who is also artistic director at MUJI, was responsible for the look of the scooter.
Honda electric scooter can reach 25 km/h
The designer was inspired by the company's H-type bicycle and other minimalist style innovations. The electric scooter is accompanied by two pedals and has been named the MS01, being surprisingly straightforward.
At first, its body is U-shaped and its small bicycle pedals create easy access for riders of all sizes. In addition, Honda's electric vehicle has a traditional handlebar with basic features designed to keep prices low and operation simple.
It is important to emphasize that electric scooter it has no additional functionality beyond a standard electric bike. The 17-inch (43,18 cm) tubeless tires are used to handle all types of road riding, and the entire design melds with the subtleties found in many Honda vehicles. The 400W motor equipped on the electric scooter allows it to reach a top speed of 25 km per hour, which equals 16 miles (25,75 km) per hour.
Honda electric scooter offers 65 km of range
The electric model of the multinational also has an EBS regenerative energy system and a Lithium battery of 48V/20Ah, which provides a range of 65 kilometers, equivalent to 41 miles (65,98 km), on just a single charge.
In this way, Honda's electric scooter only needs to be charged once or twice a week, and can withstand hours of pedaling per day, as long as the driver limits his trips and displacements within the city.
The companies' vehicle, for the time being, will only be marketed in China and will only be produced in a limited quantity of 5 pieces. It is estimated that each Honda electric scooter costs around 4.980 CNY, equivalent to US$744.
Unfortunately Honda and Muji are not yet exporting the scooter to other markets in the world at this very low price. With its cutting-edge and simple styling, it would make a great attractive alternative to existing electric bike and scooter models on the market.
Bugatti also announces low-cost electric scooter
Bugatti is one of the most exclusive and expensive vehicle manufacturers on the market. The automaker has some of the fastest and most technologically advanced vehicles in the world. This time, the company has a vehicle that costs less than $1.000.
Bugatti recently worked with Bytech, an electric scooter developer. The two companies developed a new electric scooter with a colorway and styling similar to that of the French supercar manufacturer.
The Bugatti Scooter is being sold for US$ 919,99 in black only, however, to purchase it in the classic Bugatti blue colorway, it would be necessary to buy it at the official store, where it is sold for US$ 1.200.
The vehicle can reach a top speed of 18,5 miles (29,77 km) in sport mode. However, it is possible to gain even more range by putting the vehicle in City mode, where the maximum speed is limited to just 9 miles (14,48 km).
