A chance to innovate in strategic issues of electrical energy in Brazil

The National Electric System Operator (ONS) inaugurates InovAberta, a pioneering initiative aimed at bringing together innovative startups and large corporations in the challenge of developing creative solutions for the Brazilian electricity sector. Registration will be open from March 13th to April 7th, exclusively through the program's official portal, seeking to attract proposals capable of contributing significantly to the improvement and modernization of the sector's operational procedures.

An ecosystem of energy innovation

This open innovation program aims not only to solve immediate challenges, but also to foster a collaborative ecosystem that can support the continued development and evolution of the national electricity sector. InovAberta represents a unique opportunity for startups to demonstrate their potential in solving complex problems, through the development of Proofs of Concept (PoCs) in key areas identified by the ONS.

Strategic challenges ahead

Participants will face meticulously selected challenges, ranging from estimating plant maintenance rates for prospective studies to representing the impacts of electric vehicles on energy demand. The program looks for innovative solutions in five main areas: plant maintenance, equipment model validation, electrical single-line diagrams, transmission bill settlement and the growing role of electric vehicles. Each challenge was designed to extract maximum creativity and effectiveness from startups, encouraging them to develop new and highly effective approaches.

InovAberta is more than a competition; is a gateway to direct engagement with the ONS, offering specialized mentoring, technical support and the possibility of presenting innovative solutions to a select audience of experts and leaders in the electricity sector. Furthermore, the selected startups will have the opportunity to establish strategic partnerships with ONS and other influential companies in the sector, marking their names as essential collaborators in Brazil's energy transformation journey.

The central role of the ONS in energy innovation

InovAberta is a critical component of ONS Inova, a comprehensive program that aims to stimulate an active innovation environment, supporting ONS in adapting to the rapidly changing national and global energy landscape. Under the leadership of Marcelo Prais, director of IT, Agent Relations and Regulatory Affairs, ONS seeks to develop solutions that not only meet current needs, but also anticipate future challenges in a sector in constant evolution.

The ONS plays a vital role in coordinating and controlling electricity generation and transmission operations in Brazil, ensuring the efficiency and safety of the National Interconnected System (SIN). With an energy matrix that is a global reference in sustainability, Brazil continues to lead in the use of renewable sources, and initiatives such as InovAberta are fundamental to maintaining this leadership, promoting innovation and sustainability throughout the sector.

InovAberta promises to be a milestone in the interaction between startups, large companies and the ONS, offering an unprecedented platform for exploring new ideas and solutions that can solidify the sustainable future of the Brazilian electricity sector.
