In order to attract and leverage even more oil investments in the Campos Basin, Ompetro will submit a proposal to the ANP next week.

[supsystic-social-sharing id='1′]With the aim of accelerating investments by the oil industry in the Campos Basin, Ompetro (Petroleum Producing Municipalities) will meet to finalize the last details before taking new plans and technical studies for the ANP (National Petroleum Agency) next week.

The definition of this project was just completed today (4th) in the city of Campos dos Goytacazes, located in the north of the state. The Mayors who were present at the meeting are from Quissamã (Fátima Pacheco), São João da Barra (Carla Machado), Macaé (Dr. Aluízio)  and Campos, (Rafael Diniz). Other mayors could not go but sent their representatives: Carapebus (Ivan Lécio), Casimiro de Abreu (Claudio da Silva Santos) and Niterói (Fábio Sabença).

Ompetro's main proposal that will be taken to the ANP next week is the reduction of royalties and whether it will be able to bring the expected financial return, according to the president of this association, Dr. Aluízio.

“All assessments and guidelines will be based on actual figures and calculations. First, it will be necessary to know what comes in and what comes out of royalty income. The balance is on the question of economic viability, there will also be an evaluation of other alternatives. At this first moment, the priority is to prepare the ground so that companies can inject more capital into producing cities at a lower cost.”

This royalty reduction guideline is fully constitutional and encompasses Federal Law No. 9.478, of August 1997, which sets out Brazil's energy policies with regard to the monopolization of oil. In this same law, there are rules on royalty values ​​that can be made more flexible in contractual terms.

Next week, Dr. Aluízio will meet with the ANP and show the project. “The idea is to seek flexibility and new directions with the revitalization of the Campos Basin. There is still plenty of oil to be produced in mature fields. It is necessary to reduce the costs of extracting this oil to attract investment. It's been 40 years producing oil in the region and, in the current scenario, we lost about 30% of jobs, with 35 thousand jobs lost in the last four years” said the mayor and also president of Ompetro.
