Workers embarked on oil platforms have noticed and denounced the easing of several health rules, which has made the situation on board the units worse

Last Friday, January 7, Sindipetro-NF denounced the possibility of a Covid outbreak on Petrobras' P-43 platform in the Campos Basin. On Sunday, the entity received a complaint that three more oil platforms had presented cases of contamination by Covid: P-31, P-32 and P-56.

On the Petrobras P-31 oil platform, four cabins were isolated, with four workers with symptoms and about 15 contact persons. According to Sindipetro-NF, the four symptomatic were landed at Vitória airport. Workers on board denounce that management advises the use of alcohol in their hands, and there is no alcohol on the platform.

Onboard workers have noticed and denounced the easing of various health rules, which has made the situation on board the platforms worse.

Mass testing on board the Petrobras P-56 oil platform detected positive workers.

Sindipetro-NF also received a complaint that at P-32 and P-56 seven cases of Covid-19 were confirmed, not being identified how many in each unit separately. We have information that on Thursday, the 6th, a mass test was carried out on board the P-56, which detected two positive workers.

According to the entity, Petrobras is having problems providing exclusive cabins for positive people and contacts in the P-56 unit.

As for the P-43, despite the contamination having been disembarked, 15 contacts were kept on board. Sindipetro recalls that, according to ANVISA Resolution No. 584, they should remain without contact with the other workers on board, including having their meals in isolation and being monitored.

The board of Sindipetro-NF reports that some workers are finding it difficult to disembark at airports, making it difficult to return to their homes. The entity reminds Petrobras that the state-owned company is responsible for providing the worker with all the infrastructure, from the moment he lands until he arrives at his home, without contaminating other people during this journey.

According to the MPT, workers cannot be kept in isolation on board

The union emphasizes the need for constant testing of everyone on board and continues to demand from Petrobras whether the MPT's recommendations are being complied with. It is worth remembering that, according to the MPT, workers cannot be kept in isolation on board, new shipments must be suspended until all suspected or confirmed cases have disembarked and there is complete disinfection of the unit and control of the outbreak in the unit.

It is very important that the oil sector keeps the union informed about health and safety conditions at work. Reports can be sent to from******@si**********.br. The identity of the complainant is preserved.

PETROBRAS response

Petrobras informs that its operational activities that ensure the provision of essential goods and services have never been interrupted, having been carried out continuously and in accordance with the most rigorous safety standards: testing; physical distancing; mandatory and proper use of masks; hand and equipment hygiene procedures; adequacy of staff; identification and early isolation of employees with signs, symptoms and contacts with suspected cases of the disease; permanent guidance on preventive measures to combat Covid-19; among others. All new confirmed cases are asymptomatic or with mild symptoms and the P-43, P-31, P-32 and P-56 units are still operating.

Petrobras continuously monitors both internal and external indicators, and adjusts its measures when necessary, constantly evaluating the rational use of resources, and always maintaining rigorous standards for the safety of its employees.
