The automotive market promises to shake up the structures of large automakers. Chevrolet, known for its domain with models like Onix, now faces a worthy competitor. The BYD E2 arrives on the scene, breaking prices and offering cutting-edge technology. With more affordable prices than the popular Fiat Mobi and Renault Kwid, this launch stands out not only for its value, but for the electrical innovation it brings with it.

Originating in China, the BYD e2 was initially developed for taxi drivers in 2019, but its popularity has brought it to the general public. Now, when compared to the Brazilian market leaders, Mobi and Kwid, the e2 stands out with a starting price of R$63.260, making it an even more economical option. This price reduction, from 102.800 yuan to 89.900 yuan, highlights BYD's commitment to affordability.

New Chevrolet Onix competitor is fully electric

In addition to the price, the BYD e2 captivates with what it has under the hood. Fully electric and with sales restricted to the Chinese market, it differs from the flex Mobi and Kwid models available in Brazil.

Despite its unavailability on the national market, interest in E2 is growing, especially due to its potential to represent a more sustainable and economical alternative in Brazilian territory.

However, importing this Chinese vehicle could increase its price due to taxes, an obstacle to its arrival in Brazil. Currently, the BYD Dolphin Mini holds the title of the most affordable electric vehicle in the country, with a price of around R$105.

This context reinforces the position of the e2 as a desirable vehicle, whose aesthetics, comparable to those of the Chevrolet Onix and Hyundai HB20, could guarantee success in the Brazilian market, if it overcomes fiscal challenges.

Discover the best-selling cars that marked history in Brazil

Interestingly, when we look at the best-selling cars in Brazil, we find classics that marked eras. The Volkswagen Gol leads handily, followed by Fiat Uno, Volkswagen Beetle, and other emblematic names such as Fiat Palio and Chevrolet Celta. This list reflects the favorites of Brazilians who marked different historical moments in Brazil.

The arrival of the BYD e2 on the Chinese market, offering an electric and economical alternative, highlights an evolution in the automobile sector. Even though the Brazilian scenario is dominated by traditional combustion models, the inclusion of electric vehicles such as the e2, in Brazil, signals a change in consumer preferences and a step towards a more sustainable future.

I don’t know why they make an article saying that the car costs X amount at the box office…. Here it is sold for twice the price.
