Petrobras stressed that receiving final offers is a stage of the competitive process and that the transaction will still be submitted for approval.

Continuing with its divestment plan, Petrobras informed this Thursday, the 13th, that on the 5th of June it received the final offers of more than US$1 billion, considering firm and contingent payments, for the sale of the fields in shallow waters Enchova and Pampo, located in the Campos Basin .

The company had been questioned on May 30 by the Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM), after the publication of reports on the offers. At the time, the company had confirmed that negotiations were in the final phase.

The company stressed that receiving final offers is a stage of the competitive process and that the transaction will still be submitted for approval by Petrobras' competent bodies.

“The receipt of final bids for the divestment project is a stage of the competitive process conducted in accordance with the company's Divestment System, in line with the provisions of the special procedure for the assignment of rights to explore, develop and produce oil, natural gas and other fluid hydrocarbons, provided for in Decree 9.355/2018”, concludes the note.

Rio de Janeiro will be the largest oil producer in the Americas, says Petrobras president

In a hearing at the Chamber's Mines and Energy Commission, this Tuesday, the president of Petrobras, Roberto Castello Branco, stated that Rio de Janeiro has a “unique opportunity” to recover its economy through the oil market. He stressed, however, that it is necessary to know how to use these resources.

“I think that the state of Rio de Janeiro has a unique opportunity to get out of the deep recession it has fallen into. I've told Governor Wilson Witzel that he's going to turn himself into an oil sheik. Rio de Janeiro will be the largest oil producer in the Americas, surpassed only by the United States and Canada. There will be jobs, not only for oil producers, but for suppliers, revenue generation, royalties, special participation. It will benefit you a lot. You have to use resources well, use them for the development of the economy of the state of Rio de Janeiro.” said Castello Branco.
