Petrobras is investing in its fleet of vessels, authorizing hiring processes to meet growing demand in the offshore sector.
The Brazilian state-owned giant Petrobras announced last Thursday, (28/03), the authorization of hiring processes for support vessels for offshore exploration and production logistics. This measure aims to meet short and long-term demand, focusing on efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
With a focus on efficiency and sustainability, Petrobras seeks to modernize its exploration and production logistics, boosting Brazilian industry and ensuring effective operations in the future.
Petrobras opportunities for the Brazilian Offshore Industry
Petrobras' decision marks the beginning of a series of hirings aligned with the Strategic plan the company.
In the coming years, it is estimated that around 200 support vessels will be hired between 2024 and 2028.
These vessels will serve both to replace current contracts and to increase the fleet.
Among the opportunities, the construction of up to 38 new vessels, focusing on modern and sustainable technological solutions.
The first tender envisages the hiring of 12 PSV type support vessels.
Diversification of the Petrobras fleet
In addition, Petrobras also plans to hire cabotage ships, FPSOs, vessels for underwater and well activities, as well as the decommissioning of platforms.
The company estimates that, by 2028, will be implemented 14 new platform ships, generating opportunities for the Brazilian offshore industry.
Currently, Petrobras is carrying out six contracting processes for platform ships of the type FPSOs, both for charter and own units.
Impact on the economy and jobs
Petrobras' total investment in its activities, in the period 2024 to 2028, it will be of US $ 102 billion.
This amount is expected to generate 280 thousand direct and indirect jobs per year. The national industry will be boosted by the company's projects, which seek to strengthen offshore infrastructure.
