Eneva bought the Macaé Port Terminal (TEPOR). We are talking about billions of investments and tens of thousands of jobs for Macanese.

Yesterday (09/10), we had a historic moment in Macaé. The union between Eneva, the largest energy company in Brazil, and the Vale Azul Group will make the dream of owning the Port of Macaé a reality. The giant of the national market for transforming oil and gas into energy, which recently bought the Macaé Port Terminal (TEPOR), met with the mayor of the city to get the project off the ground.

The oil company's newest billion-dollar venture, which exceeds R$ 1 billion, will allow the company to finally develop a thermoelectric plant on the coast, generating many jobs and attracting new investments to the region.

Macaé Port Terminal will be accompanied by a new Natural Gas Processing Unit (UPGN)

TEPOR will be accompanied by a new Natural Gas Processing Unit (UPGN), which will have a capacity of 60 million m3. To get an idea of the size of the project, the largest UPGN in Latin America has 25 million m3.

The project is in line with what the CEO, Pedro Zinner, said, who intends to develop a gas hub with associated infrastructure, a terminal and a regasification terminal for liquefied natural gas, LNG. The announcement of the investment comes at a time of water crisis in Brazil, where base thermal plants are even more necessary, those that are available 24 hours a day.

Currently, Eneva's gas is the so-called 'gas to wire', consisting of the use of gas extracted in Amazonas and Maranhão to feed thermal plants in the well-known 'mouth of the well' and, soon after, to drain the generated electric energy throughout the country. However, with a view to using imported gas or even pre-salt gas, Eneva developed the so-called 'gas to power', creating the logistics for receiving gas on the coast and building thermal power plants.

Macaé has a strategic position for Eneva

Macaé's location is strategic for Eneva. The site has the ability to access imported gas and even pre-salt gas, which is much more competitive compared to imported gas.

The Macaé Port Terminal, TEPOR, already has environmental licenses. The site must have a liquid terminal and also offshore support, in addition to another terminal for the movement of oil. The project also provides for two mooring berths, with the capacity to handle up to 2 million barrels of oil daily.

Eneva had a gas deficit for many years, a situation that creates difficulties in fulfilling contracts. However, the company struggled and began to live in a surplus position. The construction of thermal plants on the coast, in the city of Macaé, should facilitate the commercialization of the surplus.

TEPOR will have 6 million square meters

Occupying a land area of 6.000.000 m2, the port will have storage yards and also bonded warehouses. Terminal A, consisting of a liquid terminal and offshore support, will be connected to land by means of a bridge of approximately 4 km, with a depth of 16,5 meters.

Terminal B, on the other hand, will be used for the movement of oil and has two berths, with a depth of about 27 meters, to receive ships VLCC. In addition, the terminal will have the capacity to handle up to 2 million barrels per day.
