Empresa Alagoana de Terminais won the auction last week and leased the port terminal in Maceió, in the state of Alagoas

Last Friday (05/11) the MAC13 terminal, in the Port of Maceió, was auctioned in the state of Alagoas by the federal government. The winner of the venture was Empresa Alagoana de Terminais, which leased the port terminal for R$ 15 thousand, to operate it for the next 25 years. The handling expectation is 25 million tons during the 25 years of the contract. The area of ​​the port terminal in Maceió has 71.262m² and investments in the place will revolve around R$ 57,8 million. More investments in port terminals

According to the federal government, in addition to the Maceió port terminal, the Areia Branca salt mine (Tersab), located in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, was also auctioned for R$ 100 for the Intersal Consortium. Both ventures will have R$ 221,86 million in guaranteed private investment in the coming years.

Maceió's port terminal is used for moving and storing bulk vegetables, mainly sugar, one of the commodities most consumed and commercialized agricultural products in the world and whose world leader in production and export is Brazil. 

Other details about the port terminal auction in Maceió

The auction took place last Friday at the São Paulo Stock Exchange (B3). Empresa Alagoana de Terminais will manage the terminal in the Port of Maceió, and the Intersal Consortium will take over Tersab. Respectively, the grant values ​​were R$ 15 thousand and R$ 100 thousand.

“We are bringing a more adequate infrastructure, contracts that will bring legal security and more investments”, said the National Secretary of Ports and Waterway Transport at Minfra, Diogo Piloni. According to the secretary, the concession to the private initiative of the two terminals will help Alagoas and Rio Grande do Norte.

Destined for the handling and storage of solid mineral bulk, especially sea salt, Tersab is located in the Port Complex of Areia Branca and has an area of ​​35.114m². It is estimated that 2.526 jobs will be generated over the 25 years of the contract. Investments will revolve around R$ 164,1 million. The expectation of handling is 69,3 million tons.

In the state of Alagoas, to announce more investments by the Federal Government in works, the Minister of Infrastructure, Tarcísio Gomes de Freitas, inspected the construction site for the passenger terminal at the Port of Maceió. With an investment of R$ 5,7 million, the work should be delivered by the end of October. During the visit, the minister said that, on the 19th of November, the capital will receive the first cruise. With a total area of ​​1.668,13 m², the project has an investment of R$ 5,7 million from the Union. The construction contract for the structure at the Port of Maceió, located in the state of Alagoas, comprises the preparation of the basic and executive project, and the execution of the work. It is estimated that the terminal has the capacity to receive up to 2 passengers per day.

The space that is under construction will have all the infrastructure for the reception of visitors who disembark on cruises, including an area for customs treatment, allowing tourist ships to leave Maceió straight to Europe, and vice versa, heading to the international market. During the visit, Tarcísio also pointed out that in December, there are forecasts for three more to dock at the port of Maceió, opening the stage for the city to enter, definitively, on the cruise route with the proper structure for visitors.
