The Porto Itapoá terminal will now benefit from more speed and infrastructure after the acquisition of two new forklifts and new investments that will be applied to ensure better operation of the site
The administration of Porto Itapoá, located in Santa Catarina, received last Thursday (05/05), two new Reach Stacker type forklifts. In this way, the terminal of the complex will be much faster in the operations of cargo transport, since the equipment guarantees a quality infrastructure so that the time between the yard and the ship is reduced in the activities of movement of goods through the complex.
Two new Reach Stacker forklifts will ensure more agility and speed in transporting cargo through the Porto Itapoá terminal, in Santa Catarina
The two new Porto Itapoá forklifts arrived at the complex this week and have already started to be used at the terminal to ensure more benefits in operations. This is the port administration's new move to invest in quality infrastructure and ensure more efficient cargo transport. Now, the movement time between the yard and the ship will be greatly reduced and, as a result, the port will be able to carry out even more activities over the same period.
In this way, the main objective of acquiring two new Reach Stacker forklifts is to enhance service inside the terminal, complementing operations with the RTG, a mobile crane that is used in operations within ports to move and stack containers. . This will provide much greater control of operations, since, with the reduction in cargo transport time, there will be greater attention to other logistical issues within the goods movement chain at Porto Itapoá.

One of the main problems that Porto Itapoá had before the acquisition of Reach Stacker forklifts was waiting for trucks to transport cargo. The company stated that around 1600 vehicles of this type pass through the complex every day for activities and, with the lack of adequate infrastructure, the complex was overcrowded.
Now, the trucks will be able to carry out these operations much faster, since Kalmar brand equipment is capable of lifting 45 tons on the spreaders and provide much more agility in the movement of goods between the ship and the yard.
Porto Itapoá continues to invest in acquisitions for the complex's infrastructure, aiming at better quality in cargo transport operations
Porto Itapoá has an infrastructure investment plan for the year 2022 with the aim of expanding its service capacity in cargo transport operations. Thus, in addition to acquiring two Reach Stacker forklifts, the complex also requested five more RTGs, a mobile crane on tires, suitable for movement of containers in the yard. All this equipment contributes to a much more suitable structure for receiving even more vehicles for moving goods.
In addition, the port terminal already has 17 of these pieces of equipment, from the ZPMC brand, but with somewhat outdated technology. Now, the new equipment requested will be remotely controlled and, with that, Porto Itapoá will be the first in Brazil to have this technology. The forecast for the delivery of the machines is for the beginning of 2023 and the administration intends to continue with the contributions aimed at the infrastructure of the complex.
The final objective of Porto Itapoá with investments in infrastructure is to reach the mark in the terminal of over 200 thousand m² of patio, totaling 455 thousand m²; in addition to the expansion of a pier, which is now 800m long, to 1.210m by the end of 2023.
