PotencializEE raises sustainability standards
Launched in 2021, the PotencializEE program, a pioneering initiative in São Paulo, was recognized in the “Atlas of Energy Efficiency Brazil 2022” as one of the main forces driving energy efficiency in the industrial sector. This program, focused on small and medium-sized industries, has already attracted the participation of more than 1.100 companies in São Paulo. The publication, a collaboration between the Energy Research Company (EPE) and the International Energy Agency (IEA), analyzes the advancement of energy efficiency in Brazil and highlights the significant impact of PotencializEE.
Investment in efficiency and sustainability
Coordinated by the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) and executed in partnership with SENAI-SP and GIZ (German Agency for International Cooperation), PotencializEE plans to mobilize around R＄420 million in investments by 2025. This investment aims to save R$7.267 GWh in energy consumption, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of the Federal District, and reduce CO₂ emissions by 1,1 million tons.
Industrial and economic transformation
The 2022 Atlas illustrates a scenario of ups and downs for Brazilian industry, with fluctuations between 2001 and 2020. Despite these challenges, the industrial sector has demonstrated significant progress in energy efficiency, achieving a 4,6% gain in efficiency since 2005. PotencializEE is seen as a vital force in continuing this positive trend, promoting more efficient and sustainable production processes.

Impact and reach of PotencializEE
The program intends to implement 425 energy efficiency projects and carry out more than a thousand energy diagnoses over the next two years. This action aims to educate more than five thousand industries about energy efficiency practices, resulting in an average saving of 34% in energy costs.
Success stories and benefits
Companies such as Estamparia Salete and Produflex are already reaping the benefits of the program. Estamparia Salete, for example, identified an opportunity to save R＄1,7 million in energy and avoid the emission of 13.500 tons of CO₂. Meanwhile, Produflex expects to save R＄450.639 annually by implementing PotencializEE recommendations.
Financial accessibility and technical support
PotencializEE not only provides diagnostics and planning, but also helps companies obtain financing to implement energy efficiency projects. With partners such as Desenvolvimento SP and BNDES, the program offers affordable credit and technical support, covering up to 80% of the necessary investments.

PotencializEE is structured into six main stages, starting with online registration and culminating in project implementation. Each step is carefully planned to ensure that participating industries can effectively implement energy efficiency measures and reap the long-term benefits.
