After a long period of instability in cargo transport throughout the global market, the Port of Santos now has a good export flow due to logistical efficiency, and a stable container wait, according to the Project44 platform.

The international logistics platform focused on cargo handling, Project44, highlighted this Friday, (17/06), the relevance of the Port of Santos, located in the state of São Paulo, in the efficiency of export operations and the stabilization of waiting times of containers in the year 2022. All these factors contribute to the complex continuing to be one of the most relevant across the world scenario of freight and goods transport.

Port of Santos continues its national leadership in container operations and maintains good export logistics, according to Project44 data

Over the last 2 years, the international port sector has suffered from a crisis of instability in the complexes in relation to the waiting time for containers and the export of products. This, because the Covid-19 pandemic scenario has strongly shaken the logistics of international ports.

But now, stability is returning to the complexes and the Port of Santos, located in the state of São Paulo, has great logistical efficiency and a stable container waiting time.

The average waiting time of containers measures the efficiency of a port and, the shorter it is, the better the export logistics in the complex. In this way, the platform for studies related to cargo handling, Project44, points out that the Port of Santos maintains its quality in this index and continues to be one of the most important ports in the country. Where most food exports come from, such as coffee, white sugar (crystal) and meat, among the main ones.

Thus, according to data from the survey carried out by Project44 around the world in relation to export logistics, the length of stay in Santos of these 'packages' of cargo for export remained stable at five days in 2022.

This is an excellent index for the Port of Santos, since the ships did not suffer from oscillations in the waiting period throughout 2022 and, for the next few months, the expectation of the platform is that the complex maintains the logistic quality.

Complex performance in the waiting time of import containers is even better and ensures more efficient logistics, according to Project44

Although product export logistics at the Port of Santos are highly relevant in the national port scenario, the highlight for 2022 is the waiting time for import containers.

This is because, according to surveys carried out by Project 44, the waiting time was around 2 days throughout the year, thus ensuring much faster and more efficient entry of goods into the national territory.

Thus, Project44 commented on the main factors that affect this logistics and the reasons that led to the better result in the importation of products, stating that “The ports import different goods from the ones they export, and these products go to different places. Vessels leaving imports do not necessarily pick up exports as output. Therefore, the discrepancy between the permanence times of import and export containers is normal”.

The Port of Santos is the largest port complex in Latin America and has been showing more and more reasons why it won this title, guaranteeing customers the best operational and logistical quality and moving essential capital for the region of São Paulo and for Brazil daily.
