Last Wednesday (15) marked the beginning of the payment of the PIS/Pasep salary bonus for the base year of 2021. This year, there will be 22,9 million Brazilian employees eligible for the benefit. In the case of employees working in the private sector, it is essential to have worked under a documented contract for a minimum period of thirty days during the year 2021. Furthermore, it is the responsibility of the employer to provide the government with accurate information about the situation of each citizen.

The sum of the allowance PIS / Pasep is calculated based on a proportional formula that takes into account the number of formal hours worked in 2021. The value of R$ 108,50 is equivalent to the month worked. A period with a minimum duration of 15 days and a maximum duration of 30 days is considered a complete month.

The total value of the benefit can reach R$ 1.302, an amount close to the current minimum wage. For PIS (private sector), payments are made by Caixa, while for Pasep (servants), payments are made by Banco do Brasil.

Those who fall into one of the following categories cannot receive the subsidy: Employees and maids; Rural workers employed by individuals; Urban workers employed by individuals; Workers employed by individuals equivalent to legal entities.

Na Caixa, the payment of PIS will be made mainly through the credit process in the current account and also in the savings account. The other beneficiaries will receive their payments through the Caixa Tem program, which gives access to a virtual debit card that can be used to pay bills, make transfers, pay at machines, among others.

PIS/Pasep withdrawals can also be made at self-service terminals, lottery outlets, Caixa correspondents or branches, using the Social Card and the associated password. December 28th is the deadline for all workers to withdraw their entitlement amounts.
