State-owned Petrobras starts offshore tour in the United Kingdom

A Petrobras delegation is visiting the northeast of England to meet with major companies in the supply chain of the offshore wind sector.

During the visit, Petrobras executives accompanied by members of the Brazilian Department of Foreign Trade will participate in three days of activities promoted by NOF Energy based in Durham. This includes a series of visits to industry experts across the region, including Wilton Engineering, PD Ports, DeepOcean, Osbit and Smulders Projects UK. They will also participate in Offshore Wind North East on Thursday 8th November 2018 organized by NOF Energy.

The conference and exhibition taking place at the Xcel Center in Newton Aycliffe in November will explore the opportunities available in the offshore wind energy sector. Petrobras recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Norwegian company Equinor to evaluate a joint commercial development to establish offshore wind generation in Brazil.

The delegation includes several members involved in the implementation, engineering and research of an offshore pilot project that Petrobras intends to install and operate in the state of Rio Grande do Norte by 2022. “The supply chain project in the Northeast is considered an example within the industry and I am confident that Petrobras will gain valuable insight into what it's like to be a global leader in offshore wind,” Joanne Leng, Executive Vice President of NOF Energy, added. “The fact that the delegation chose to visit this region is an exceptional vote of confidence in the extraordinary levels of expertise, knowledge and innovation based here. The UK and Brazil already have a positive relationship in the oil and gas sector and I hope this can be replicated in the offshore wind industry as the South American country develops its infrastructure and renewable capacities.”
