EBSE, in RJ, signs a contract with the Brazilian Navy and starts contracting for maintenance services on several ships of the Naval Force

EBSE, one of the most traditional national manufacturers of industrial equipment, large-diameter tubes and heavy boilers, won a new contract from the Brazilian Navy for maintenance services on several ships of the Naval Force. The company has already started hiring, as the services are expected to start in the coming weeks, revealed the company's superintendent director, Marco Danemberg in an interview with Petronotícias.

According to the executive, the contract also represents a good job opportunity for the local workforce, since the company has started hiring and according to him, up to 60 vacancies may be needed for the project.

Another recent achievement of the company was the receipt of the Strategic Defense Company certification, further expanding EBSE's opportunities within the segment. “To serve a nation with continental dimensions and the geopolitical importance that Brazil has, there is a very promising horizon in this sector of the economy, where there will be no lack of opportunities”, said Danemberg.

About EBSE's new contract with the Brazilian Navy for maintenance services on ships of the Naval Force

According to Marco Danemberg, the contractual scope of services on Brazilian Navy ships includes maintenance and repair activities, as well as the manufacture of some necessary items, such as piping.

Currently, the vessels are berthed and/or docked at the Navy Arsenal and Naval Base in Rio de Janeiro.

EBSE has already provided maintenance and repair services to the Navy's Antarctic support ships, or polar ships as they are also known, frigates, patrol ships and also to the largest ship in the Brazilian squadron, the Multipurpose Atlantic Helicopter Carrier.

The Director states that due to the expertise in the services and the support that its industrial park provides, including qualified labor, it guarantees EBSE a differentiated mobility condition for this type of project. “Our planning for the project indicates that the mobilization will be 100% completed by the end of January, and in full activity at the Arsenal de Marinha”, said the executive.

The importance of this new Navy contract for EBSE

Firstly, in the current scenario, impacted by the pandemic, the new contract for maintenance services on ships of the Naval Force, will contribute to boosting the region's economy, given that it offers opportunities for qualified professionals, today still having difficulty finding in the market. Plus, of course, the positive effects on other sectors of the production chain.

The second point is that this project expands the company's growing activities in the services segment, which is part of the goals of the EBSE strategic plan.

Finally, Danemberg points out that this contract increases the company's synergy with the Brazilian Navy, which is an institution that is part of the Ministry of Defense, increasing the chances of new business opportunities in this segment and also contributes to strengthening the company's participation in the Defense Industrial Base (IDB).

The business opportunities for EBSE after this certification

The Defense segment represents more than 3% of the country's GDP. The Defense Industrial Base (BID), although already quite robust, is still in the development phase and needs to be increased to meet the needs of a Nation with the continental dimensions and geopolitical importance that Brazil has. In other words, there is a very promising horizon in this sector of the economy where, with the technology and capacity to meet demands, opportunities will not be lacking.

Rio de Janeiro holds an extremely differentiated condition in the segment, as it is the biggest pillar of the Brazilian shipbuilding industry, today stimulated with the creation of the Naval Cluster. With the Strategic Programs of the Navy – which include a good portion of local content – and the needs generated from the maritime region of the Blue Amazon, many opportunities will arise and those who are prepared will certainly have a greater chance of participating in future undertakings.
