Construction of the ship has been going on for 6 years. Replicating the Titanic has so far required an investment of US$155 million and the use of 23 tons of steel.
We can say that China has accustomed us to its pharaonic projects, but this one simply goes beyond the norm, since in the province of Sichuan, more than a thousand kilometers from the sea, an exact replica of the Titanic ship is being built, that mythical ocean liner that sank more than a century ago on its maiden voyage.

Its development has been going on for 6 years, longer than it took to build the Titanic. The replica has so far required an investment of US$155 million and the use of 23.000 tons of steel.
The new Titanic will not sail the seas, but it will be a theme park that will aim to relive the experience of boarding this historic ocean liner. For this, the team placed special emphasis on details, as everything will be a perfect copy of the original, from door handles to luxury bedrooms and the dining room. To avoid inaccuracies, experts and historians will validate the final result.
“It's a complicated project”, says Su Shaojun, the project's main investor, who decided to finance the work to preserve the memories of the cruise. “I expect this ship to be here in 100 or 200 years,” he added.
However, the new Titanic will not be the only attraction in the park, as it will recreate the old port of Southampton, in the United Kingdom, from where it sailed to New York on April 10, 1912, four days before sinking in the Atlantic Ocean.
The story of the Titanic, the luxury ship labeled "the unsinkable"
The Titanic sailed on its maiden voyage from Southampton, England to New York on April 10, 1912. At the time, it was the largest passenger ship afloat.
On April 14, around midnight, she hit an iceberg and sank in less than three hours. According to the US Senate report on the Titanic disaster, 1.517 people were killed and 706 people out of 2.223 passengers and crew members survived.
In 1985, scientists led by the American Robert Ballard and the Frenchman Jean Jarry located the wreck about 563 km off the southeast coast of Newfoundland, Canada. The following year, Ballard and his crew used a deep-sea submersible survey team to explore the sunken ship for the first time.
