Total E&P starts drilling its first production well in the Lapa field in the Santos Basin

Drilling started in the Lapa field, pre-salt in the Santos Basin by Total E&P in production well 7-LPA-5D-SPS

The oil company Total started drilling in the lapa field, in the pre-salt in the Santos Basin last week, on July 30, using the DS-9 rig, from Valaris (formerly EnscoRowan). This is the first well of the type contracted by Total since it took over the field's operation, previously from Petrobras. This well is part of the investments for the extension of the Lapa production system.

Earlier, Total E&P concluded the drilling of injection well 8-LPA-4D-SPS. The Valaris rig is on contract for a four-well campaign, with two options for an additional well.

BEAUTY AND PERSONAL CARE

The Lapa field, in the Santos Basin, was acquired by Total from Petrobras in January 2018 for US$1,95 billion. As the majority shareholder in the company, as it owns 35%, Total operates the field, and is partnered by Repsol-Sinopec, with 25%, and Petrobras with 10%.

Currently, the Lapa field, in the Santos Basin, produces through six production wells connected to the FPSO Cidade de Caraguatatuba (100 barrels/day). Average production in the first five months of the year was 30 barrels/day.

Subsea 7 wins the bid and will supply the PLSV vessel to Petroleira Total

A troubled auction for Petroleira Total finally came to an end. Subsea 7 was declared the winner of the bidding process and will supply a PLSV vessel (vessel specialized in launching flexible submarine lines) to carry out activities in the Lapa field, in the Santos Basin pre-salt.

The bidding should have ended last May, but French Total has recently made some important modifications to the contractual terms of the PLSV, reducing the proposed scope of work to meet its new requirements for the Lapa field, prompting the company to ask for a new tender, and causing offshore service providers to submit new commercial prices.
