Refinery transfer process is stalled
pasadena stops again

Sources in Houston inform that Chevron did not take over the refinery on Monday (01/04) as expected and the transfer with Petrobras was interrupted

The long-awaited transfer of Pasadena Refining System Inc, PRSI, from Petrobras to Chevron, was interrupted last Monday (01/04).
A day earlier, units in the Houston refinery area were closed and Chevron was expected to take over, which did not happen.

What was different at the refinery was that the flags of Brazil and Petrobras were removed from the masts in front of the Pasadena refinery, a position they had occupied since 2012 when the state-owned company acquired the unit.
Another detail that was also noticed was that a Petrobras sign in front of Pasadena Refining System Inc (PRSI) was covered.

What do those involved say?

Chevron spokesman Braden Reddall said Tuesday that the company expects the PSRI transition process to be complete by June.
Petrobras has not yet commented on the episode, although there are indications that it is leaving the site.

On Sunday, the refinery informed the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) that the refinery's electrostatic precipitator (ESP) and catalytic cracking unit (FCCU) were shut down for maintenance.
The refinery's 100 bpd distillation unit and a 23 bpd catalytic reformer were also shut down on Sunday, according to energy industry intelligence service Genscape.

remembering the case

The Pasadena refinery, in the United States, was the target of the car wash that pointed out evidence of corruption in its acquisition by Petrobras.
The Brazilian state-owned company paid, in installments, a total of US$1,2 billion for the unit until the moment it took full control of it in 2012.

Chevron sees the acquisition of the refinery as a great opportunity, as it intends to process the oil that the company produces in Texas. It will be the second refinery on the Gulf Coast owned by the oil company.

At the end of January, Chevron completed the purchase of the refinery from Petrobras for US$562 million. and evidence of PSRI's importance to Chevron is the fact that it is acquiring a terminal and land around the refinery, as well as a trading company owned by PRSI.
