Ulstein Verft signed JP Morgan Asset Management contract for offshore wind construction services, including green methanol & hybrid battery options.

Shipbuilding company Ulstein Verft is expanding its construction activities of offshore wind construction service operation vessels (CSOVs) with contracts signed with J.P. Morgan Asset Management.

In 2023, Ulstein Verft received the order from Bernhard Schulte Offshore for the design and construction of two CSOVs, in a contract that included options for two further vessels. These options were later transferred to institutional investors advised by J.P. Morgan Asset Management, who assumed responsibility for the construction of Ulstein's first two ships. The CSOVs commissioned by Bernhard Schulte Offshore and J.P. Morgan Asset Management will be instrumental in the expansion of renewable energy operations in Europe, forming part of the offshore wind sector news.

The ships, from the ULSTEIN SX222 project, have a wide, centralized corridor, with compensated movement, and an elevator tower for transferring personnel and cargo. In total, the ships will have capacity to accommodate 132 people. Furthermore, a crane 3D plywood with capacity to lift 5 ton offshore cargo will be installed. The vessels are 89,6 meters long and have a beam of 19,2 meters.
