A strategic partnership marked by Macron's visit to São Paulo
A Veolia, a global giant in environmental solutions, and Braskem, a pioneer in the production of biopolymers, take their collaboration to new heights with an ambitious focus: decarbonisation of the Triunfo industrial complex, Rio Grande do Sul. This collaboration, reinforced during a relevant economic event in the presence of French President Emmanuel Macron, aims to implement innovations that promise to significantly reduce carbon emissions.
Since 2021, the partnership between these two industrial powers has already contributed to the annual reduction of 150 thousand tons of greenhouse gases (GHG). Now, with the expansion of this agreement, it is expected that the CO2e reduction will reach another 500 thousand tons per year, a considerable milestone for the sustainability process and the fight against climate change.
Shared commitment to the environment
Veolia and Braskem's joint mission goes beyond the business sphere, closely aligning itself with global objectives to combat climate change. In accordance with the Paris Agreement, the initiatives developed will seek to replace fossil fuels with renewable energy alternatives in steam production, essential for Braskem's operations in the south of the country.
Pedro Pradanos, CEO of Veolia Brasil, highlighted the importance of synergy between companies to promote an effective ecological transition. Veolia, with its expertise in renewable resource management and energy efficiency, together with Braskem, with its commitment to sustainable growth, are paving the way for eco-efficient and high-impact industrial solutions.
Significant advances in the energy transition
Collaborative efforts have the potential to radically transform the energy matrix of the Triunfo industrial hub, reducing dependence on fossil fuels and minimizing Braskem's carbon footprint. Gustavo Souza Checcucci, director of energy and industrial decarbonization at Braskem, highlighted the importance of this partnership in achieving ambitious sustainability goals and highlighted Veolia's crucial role in accelerating this process.
This agreement, signed in a context of reflection and initiative for a low-carbon economy, not only benefits decarbonization goals but also reaffirms the urgency and priority of climate actions between governments and industries, both in Brazil and France.
The actions already implemented and those underway between Veolia and Braskem illustrate an effective commitment to sustainable development, highlighting the ability of both companies to lead by example when it comes to environmental responsibility.
