A resident of Mato Grosso do Sul decided to circumvent the Brazilian infrastructure and transformed a Fiat Palio 2009 into an SUV without changing any part of its propulsion assembly
One of the reasons SUVs are so popular in Brazil is the state of our highways. Its height in relation to the ground and its greater comfort reduce the impact when going through roads full of ditches, holes and speed bumps. However, not everyone wants a vehicle in this category or has the financial conditions to have one. Therefore, Gabriel Araújo, from Três Lagoas (Mato Grosso do Sul), transformed a 2009 Fiat Palio into a SUV without modifying any part of its mechanical assembly.
Fiat Palio 2009 has 81 horsepower
Gabriel Araújo, a resident of Três Lagoas, Mato Grosso do Sul, decided to pick up his Fiat Palio 2009, a hatchback that even earned the nickname “Gringo” and has an Instagram page with videos watched by around 60 people.
The main modification is in the suspension of the new SUV, raised by 7 centimeters, which made possible a large free space between the vehicle and the ground. There are also tires for mixed use, but in the original measures of the Fiat Palio 2009. The change makes a lot of sense, if we consider that Gabriel walks a lot on dirt roads.

The mechanical assembly of the new SUV has not undergone any modifications, so, under the hood, the vehicle still has a 1.4 Fire flex engine with 81 horsepower and 12,4 kgfm of torque with a five-speed manual transmission. Visually, the Fiat Palio 2009 won LEDs in place of fog lights and also reverse lights.
An auxiliary LED bar at the front was also inserted in the SUV. With that, there is one certainty: the vehicle's maintenance costs are much lower than those of a current compact SUV, in addition to being very easy to find a mechanic who knows this type of engine.
Other modifications appear around the world
Leaving Mato Grosso do Sul, a Dutchman turned his Rolls Royce V12 Phantom into a six-wheel Jeep.
To accommodate these extra wheels, the rear of the vehicle had to be extended and, to have a more aggressive look, bars were installed at the front and rear of the vehicle, which also has a trailer hitch.
Its giant fenders are also eye-catching, as are its yellow headlights, dome lights and fog lights. Currently, this type of lighting is outdated and even banned in some countries.
Corsa Vs Ferrari: Who wins?
An English janitor and mechanic, Adam Beard, bought a Corsa in England about 10 years ago for R$1.300 at the exchange rate at the time. Currently, the vehicle can beat a ferrari, using two engines that can generate more than 1.000 horsepower.
To get an idea of this invention, the sporty Ferrari 488 Pista, in addition to all the glamor of the brand, provides 710 horsepower with a 3.8 V8 biturbo engine, with seven gears and dual clutch.
The model goes from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2,85 seconds. A common Corsa offers just 105 horsepower with a torque of 13,36 kgfm and only reaches a top speed of 180 km/h. At the moment of truth, the race between the two vehicles was close and, despite having started with a wide advantage, the caretaker's Corsa was caught by Ferrari, which covered the 400 m in just 11 seconds, against the 11,9 seconds of the vehicle with two engines.
