History
The debate on the construction of the Salvador-Ilha de Itaparica bridge and the need to integrate the flow of goods, services and people between Salvador, Recôncavo and the Island is not recent.
In 1967, the architect Sérgio Bernardes formulated a proposal within the Master Plan of the Industrial Center of Aratu (CIA), which created a ring road, with three types of routes: two for the transit of heavy vehicles, and the bridge connecting the capital and Itaparica.
Although some works had been carried out, such as the BR-324 and BA-001, the bridge to cross the Baía de Todos-os-Santos had not left the public archives until the government of PT Jaques Wagner decided to leverage structuring works.
