The Contrata SP Organized by the City Hall of São Paulo Started This Thursday with Job Openings in Various Areas

The City Hall of São Paulo is holding this Thursday (the 18th) the 7th edition of Contrata SP aimed at the employability of professionals with disabilities and rehabilitated individuals from INSS. The free service will take place at Universidade Mackenzie – Building 30, in the city center, from 9 AM to 5 PM and will offer more than 1,000 job openings provided by around 50 companies.

Candidates seeking reemployment will have access to companies from various sectors such as Starbucks, Caoa, Latam, CIEE, Hospital Alemão Oswaldo Cruz, Viação Metrópole Paulista, Unisys, Paineiras Soluções Profissionais, Cervejarias Kaiser Brasil, Grupo Fleury, among others.
There are opportunities for all education levels, including technical degrees and internships. Salaries range from R$ 533 (for apprentices in supermarkets) to R$ 5,000 in the nursing field.

Candidates can also participate in the selection for 30 restaurant coordinator positions, which require a completed high school education and at least six months of experience in the role. Another 30 positions are available for receptionists working in a shift system, with a salary of R$ 1,195.

Contrata SP also offers 44 positions for those who are pursuing or have completed higher education. There are managerial roles in the commercial and technology areas, as well as in the category of human resources, marketing, and finance analysts.

According to the Secretary of Economic Development and Labor, Aline Cardoso, Contrata SP is an event already recognized by individuals with disabilities in the city of São Paulo. “These are joint efforts from municipal agencies that evolve with each edition. Whether in organization or in the relentless pursuit to promote the employability of these professionals, Contrata SP has established itself as an important tool for professional reemployment,” she emphasizes.

Interested individuals should come with resumes and personal documents (ID, CPF, Work Card, rehabilitation report or certificate). It is also possible to pre-register to avoid queues on the day at the website: www.bit.ly/ContrataSP7candidatos.

Actions in the west, east, south, and central zones have already received more than 3,600 registrants, with 400 already hired. According to data from the 2010 Census by IBGE, nearly 2.8 million people with disabilities live in the city of São Paulo. Among them, 500,000 are part of the economically active population and only 42,800 are employed with formal contracts.

In order to increase this number, the Quota Law (Federal Law No. 8,213) was enacted in 1991. The legislation requires that companies with more than 100 employees allocate 2% to 5% of job positions for people with disabilities; however, this percentage is not always met.

“We still have a long way to go in practice to make this affirmative policy even more effective. Today, the legislation is followed by only 50% of the companies subject to it. The reasons are, primarily, prejudice and lack of information, which still persist among entrepreneurs, executives, and especially HR managers, who view disability as incapacity,” states Cid Torquato, Municipal Secretary for Persons with Disabilities.

A professional with a disability who does not have a work card need not worry. CATe will also provide the issuance of the work card, either the first or second copy, for individuals aged 14 and older at the event. To obtain the document, the person needs to bring an ID, an original birth or marriage certificate, and a recent 3×4 photo. In the case of a duplicate, the person must also bring the previous work card or any document containing the number and series of the old work card.

Contrata SP Will Also Offer Services That Will Help and Guide Workers, Including:

  • Guidance on Social Security Benefits (INSS).
  • Guidance on Resume Writing and Registration (CATHO).
  • Registration for Internship Opportunities Available at the City Hall of São Paulo (CIEE).
