2W Energy, Company That Democratized Access to Renewable Energy for Small and Medium-Sized Businesses, Joins Ecogen Brazil for Solar Energy Supply in Pernambuco
2W Energy, one of the largest cleantech companies in the country that democratized access to renewable energy for small and medium-sized businesses, has partnered with Ecogen, a company of the Mitsui & Co., Ltd. Group and a reference in the development, implementation, and management of energy solutions, for the supply of 4 MW of solar energy in distributed generation (GD) in Pernambuco. The agreement will allow the company to expand its GD service, providing renewable energy to micro and small businesses and residences in the State.

The partnership allows, through 100% digital technology, that consumers in Pernambuco have access to clean and renewable energy with intelligent consumption, without the need for investments in solar energy. In addition, the system allows for a discount on the electricity bill.

The solution, which is already available in Minas Gerais, operates through the retail platform of 2W Energy, which acts as a marketplace for GD credits, where companies or individuals can join as members or cooperatives of 2W’s shared distributed generation centers. At the same time, the company offers the market, through leasing, the generation capacity to gain scale on the digital platform.
For Luiz Cabral, CEO of Ecogen, the partnership is extremely relevant for the sector. “We gain reach and strength to implement a new model in the market. The energy sector seeks solutions that create value, changing consumption relationships, and certainly this partnership brings this innovation,” he emphasizes.
Solar Energy and the Expansion of Distributed Generation
In 2021, according to the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel), distributed generation (GD) exceeded 7 GW operational in the country. And according to the latest projections from the Energy Research Company (EPE), Brazil could reach a capacity of 24.5 Gigawatts in Distributed Generation by 2030. For this, the EPE estimates a total of 3 million consumers and a total investment of around R$70 billion.
2W Energy and Ecogen are already exploring partnerships for the supply of solar energy through GD in other States in Brazil. The companies estimate to exceed 25 MW in offered capacity in distributed generation still in 2021.
