A 21-Year-Old Completed The Knowledge of London, Known as the Taxi Test Most Difficult in The World, After Completing Seven Steps Required by Transport for London, Obtaining a License to Act as a Black Cab Driver in The Streets of The City

The Knowledge of London is a mandatory exam for any driver wishing to work as a black cab driver in London. The test assesses complete mastery of the city’s routes, including central roads and suburban areas, and is recognized as the most difficult taxi test in the world.

The process requires candidates to learn detailed routes, landmarks, and alternative paths. Traditionally, completion takes years, reinforcing its reputation in the urban transport sector of the British capital.

Official Structure Defined By Transport For London

According to Transport for London, the Knowledge project is divided into seven intense stages. Each phase was designed to progressively verify the level of knowledge and preparation of candidates for the most difficult taxi test in the world.

The first stage consists of a self-assessment based on the 80 initial rides from the Blue Book, which gathers routes within a six-mile radius from Charing Cross. This phase directs the initial learning of aspirants.

Written Exams And Individual Interviews

In the second stage, candidates take a written exam with five questions about the Blue Book and 25 questions related to landmarks. To progress, a minimum score of 60 percent is required.

Stages three, four, and five consist of individual interviews with an examiner. They occur at regular intervals of 56 days, 28 days, and 21 days, respectively, evaluating the continuous evolution of the candidate in the most difficult taxi test in the world.

Suburban Assessment And License Granting

The sixth stage requires a specific exam on suburban areas, in which the candidate must demonstrate additional knowledge of 25 routes outside the central region. This phase expands the requirement for memorization and spatial orientation.

In the seventh and final stage, the formal license application and a pre-licensing lecture occur. After completion, the badge and the license are handed to the new taxi driver, authorizing their operation on the streets of London.

Study Methods And The Case Of The Youngest Taxi Driver

Currently, many candidates use scooters or mopeds to learn the routes of the most difficult taxi test in the world, in addition to attending specialized schools known as knowledge schools.

The title of the youngest taxi driver in London belongs to Connor, 21, who completed all seven stages. Transport for London classified the achievement as a moment of pride, highlighting that the Knowledge project requires dedication, hard work, and determination.

Black Cabs And The Current Transport Scenario

Despite the advancement of self-driving taxis in other countries and the expectation for new technologies, black cabs continue to dominate the streets of London.

In addition to being a means of transportation, they remain an urban symbol and tourist attraction for visitors.

Transport for London announced the achievement of the young taxi driver on its platforms, reinforcing the importance of the Knowledge of London for maintaining the quality standard of taxi service in the British capital.
