In a statement on Thursday (11), BRF informed with certainty that the partnership with Banco do Brasil is an initiative that fits into the long-term strategy, which aims to address “sustainability in a transversal way and permeating all its business." Among BRF's objectives is the expansion of approximately 50% in electricity generation using solar energy, thus lasting for at least ten years.

Banco do Brasil inaugurated its first solar power plant

Last year, Banco do Brasil inaugurated its first solar energy plant, in the form of distributed generation. The solar power plant was built by EDPP, a company that operates in all segments of the electricity sector, the plant is located in Minas Gerais, in the municipality of Porteirinha. With an installed capacity of 5 megawatts, the plant supplies energy to several Banco do Brasil branches in the state of Minas. The solar power plant has more than 18 solar panels, with a capacity to generate 14 GWh per year. The undertaking aims to reduce the energy bill of Banco do Brasil branches by more than 50% in the state of Minas Gerais, and also reducing the emission of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, corresponding to the planting of around seven thousand trees.
