The Chevrolet Prisma G2, launched in 2013, brought improvements in design and technology, maintaining its popularity in the compact sedan market.

O Chevrolet Prisma G2 arrived on the national market as a significant evolution in relation to its first generation. With the new platform based on Onix, the compact sedan brought more modernity and refinement, positioning itself as one of the main options for those looking for an affordable car, but with good features. In addition to the design improvements, the Prisma G2 came with mechanical and technological innovations that distance it from its predecessor. This model stands out for its ability to meet the needs of the Brazilian consumer, offering a balanced package of performance, comfort and technology, although it presents some challenges in safety and performance.

General information about the Chevrolet Prisma

Chevrolet managed to design a silk with lines that seem to be part of an original project, different from the previous prism.

The front of the vehicle is identical to the Onix up to the C column, with a central grille divided by a horizontal bar that carries the Chevrolet logo, framed by a decorative strip.

The headlights feature a single bifocal reflector and may have a chrome or black mask finish, depending on the version.

On the side, the Prisma displays a crease that starts at the headlights and runs along the entire side to the rear lights.

The C-pillar of the Prisma G2 is exclusive to the model, presenting an inclination that connects with the high rear, giving a sense of continuity.

The sedan is 4,27 m long, while the Onix hatch measures 3,93 m. The trunk is also larger in the Prisma, at 500 liters, compared to 280 liters in the Onix.

All other dimensions, such as wheelbase, width and height, remain the same between the two models.

Despite being a sedan, the Prisma G2 offers the same internal space as the Onix, as the internal dimensions do not change.

The wheelbase of 2,52 m, the height of 1,48 m and the width of 1,70 m are identical between the two models.

This may disappoint those who expect more space in a sedan, especially for families or those who use the car for private transportation.

The instrument panel combines analogue rev counters with digital displays, in the style of the Chevrolet Sonic.

The panel has a central portion that can come in dark brown, repeating the tone in parts of the seats and doors, to try to give a more sophisticated appearance to the interior, which is predominantly composed of rigid plastics.

A technological car

The Chevrolet Prisma G2 was launched with two versions and three configurations: LT with 1.0 and 1.4 engines, and LTZ with 1.4 engine.

Each version offers different levels of standard equipment, but, like the Onix, the Prisma G2 is not known for its cutting-edge technology.

The basic LT version with 1.0 engine includes electric windows on the front doors, headlights with follow-me and take-me function, key with remote door lock, electric lock with speed activation and 14-inch wheels with hubcaps.

The LT 1.4 adds black mask headlights, 15-inch wheels and darkened taillights.

In terms of security, all business They offer ABS brakes, dual front airbags, height-adjustable steering wheel, anti-theft alarm and vehicle-colored exterior mirrors.

What you need to know before buying a Chevrolet Prisma

The Chevrolet Prisma G2 stands out in three main areas. The market: The Prisma G2 repeated the success of the Onix, becoming an extremely commercial car and easy to negotiate in any situation.

It is the ideal model for those concerned with resale, as market acceptance is high.

Maintenance: The Prisma is a car entry level, with a known mechanical set and without major technological innovations, making maintenance more accessible.

This makes it a good choice for those who need a vehicle for frequent use, as preventive or corrective maintenance is less expensive.

Multimedia: Prisma, together with Onix, was one of the first models to democratize the MyLink multimedia center, something that was previously inaccessible to many consumers.

However, the Chevrolet Prisma G2 has some negative points. Safety: Despite its success, the Prisma G2 received severe criticism for its low rating in Latin NCAP crash tests, earning zero stars due to its weak structure and lack of more safety features.

This situation only improved around 2018, when Chevrolet implemented structural reinforcements.

If safety is a priority, it is advisable to opt for models manufactured from 2018 onwards.

Performance: The performance of the Prisma G2 is average, due to the limitation of available engines.

Chevrolet chose not to offer more powerful engines, such as the 1.6 or 1.8, to prevent the Prisma from competing directly with the Cobalt, resulting in a sedan with only satisfactory performance.

Technology: Although MyLink is attractive, the Prisma G2 does not offer an extensive list of standard items. The most complete models come with the basic “dignity kit”, but not much beyond that.

The car and the automobile market

In the compact sedan market, the Chevrolet Prisma G2 faces strong competition from models such as the Hyundai HB20S, Ford Ka+, Renault Logan, Fiat Cronos, Volkswagen Voyage, Fiat Grand Siena, Nissan Versa and Toyota Etios Sedan. All of these business compete for consumer preference by offering different combinations of technology, performance and cost-benefit.

I bought a 0 new car, an excellent car that has never bothered me, just for gas, oil and filter changes and I'm happy. On the highway I get 2016km/liter.

I have a 2019 LTZ manual Prisma from scratch with no details and only 16.000 km, a nice car. I intend to keep it and leave it parked for at least five or six years just as a hobby.
