For a long time, the logic was simple: the more power, the bigger the motor. But that is a thing of the past. With the evolution of electric motors, the equation has completely changed. The new motor from ZF, named EVSys800, delivers up to 374 HP of peak power and an astonishing torque of 5,200 Nm. All of this with a set that weighs only 74 kg — in other words, lighter than many electric bikes out there — and has the size of a shoe box.
A Complete Motor in One Block
And we’re not just talking about the motor, you know? The EVSys800 comes with everything integrated: motor, inverter, power electronics, and reducer. This means that it can forego the use of a traditional gearbox, saving even more space and weight. All of this in a compact system ready to be installed.

Another advantage of the EVSys800 is the way it was designed. The braided winding and the coaxial structure of the reducer help save up to 10% of copper compared to conventional electric motors. This not only reduces production costs but also makes the system lighter and more sustainable. And there’s more: the entire assembly generates less heat and noise, which means less vibration and more comfort inside the car.

From Supercars to Urban Mobility
Although it has already been tested in a Porsche Taycan, the EVSys800 wasn’t born just for sports cars. Being lightweight and compact, it can also be used in electric urban vehicles, vans, and even utility vehicles. Since it is possible to use more than one motor in the same vehicle, the possibilities multiply: all-wheel drive, individual torque control per wheel, and performance that competes with the most powerful combustion cars on the market.
A Step Ahead in the Electric Race
ZF doesn’t just want to keep up with the automotive sector’s electric shift — it wants to lead it. And with a motor of this caliber, it is well positioned. The company is betting on complete electric propulsion solutions, integrating hardware and software into a single package. This could give ZF a significant advantage over giants like Bosch, Siemens, or BorgWarner, who are still working with more modular systems.
When Will It Hit The Market?
ZF’s forecast is to begin mass production starting in 2026, and the expectation is that the EVSys800 will start appearing in commercial models shortly thereafter. And the promise is clear: more power, less weight, and more efficiency. All of this with less environmental impact and performance that will change the way we look at electric cars.
