Marcopolo will invest R$50 million in expanding its factory in SĂŁo Mateus (EspĂrito Santo) to produce electric buses. This investment will be responsible for generating 400 jobs for local residents.
Last Tuesday, (06/12), Marcopolo announced an investment of R$ 50 million in the expansion of its factory in SĂŁo Mateus, in the north of the State of EspĂrito Santo. The focus of the investment is to start the unprecedented production of electric buses in the region, with the expectation of generating around 400 new jobs.
Marcopolo's new electric bus will revolutionize public transport
The company plans to produce the Attivi Integral, its first fully electric bus with its own body and chassis.
With capacity for 80 passengers, a range of up to 280 kilometers and a charging time of four hours, the Attivi represents a significant advance in offering sustainable solutions for public transport.
At the moment, Marcopolo produces around 16 vehicles daily in SĂŁo Mateus, and with the inclusion of Attivi, production capacity will be expanded to 26 vehicles per day.
Government of EspĂrito Santo acquires 50 electric buses from Marcopolo
The information was released at a press conference held at Palácio Anchieta, in Vitória, with the presence of state government representatives and Marcopolo executives.
During the event, it was announced that the State government plans to acquire, by 2025, 50 electric buses from the manufacturer to join the Transcol fleet, strengthening the energy transition in public transport in EspĂrito Santo.
Governor Renato Casagrande highlighted the importance of expanding the Marcopolo factory for generating jobs and income in EspĂrito Santo.
“This expansion of Marcopolo is essential so that we can generate more jobs and income for the people of EspĂrito Santo. The State government will start purchasing 50 new electric vehicles so that we can begin our energy transition. During COP-28, we announced the switch from fossil fuels in our light vehicle fleet to biofuel and we will begin switching the Transcol System fleet to electric ones”, stated Casagrande.
Ricardo Ferraço, vice-governor and secretary of Development, highlighted that the announcement consolidates Marcopolo's commitment to the development of the state.

The expansion of the factory is scheduled for the first months of 2024, marking the 2nd phase of Marcopolo's presence in EspĂrito Santo.
Since its arrival in 2014, the company has invested around R$350 million in the state, generating 1.900 jobs.
Marcopolo's CEO, AndrĂ© Armaganijan, highlighted the strategic choice of EspĂrito Santo for expansion, highlighting the favorable location that makes it possible to serve both the national and international markets.
These new investments not only strengthen Marcopolo's presence in the state of EspĂrito Santo, but also contribute to the advancement of the electric vehicle industry in Brazil, marking a significant step towards sustainability in public transport.
