New businesses signed between Equinor and companies from Espírito Santo could generate hundreds of job vacancies in the state

Equinor, a Norwegian energy giant, is expanding its business in Espírito Santo, where it has already signed contracts with two companies. Equinor, considered the second largest oil and gas operator in Brazil, is investing significantly in the sector, with oil and gas projects in the Santos, São Paulo, and Campos, Rio de Janeiro basins, totaling approximately US$15 million (R $75 million) in investments by 2030 and generating jobs in the state, according to the website A Gazeta.

Strategic partnerships in the oil industry and job creation

To establish its presence in Espírito Santo, Equinor signed contracts with local companies in the oil industry, including a large road transport company and another specialized in automation. This latest contract involves the automation and design of the FPSO Bacalhau, a floating production, storage and unloading vessel in the Santos basin and foresees the creation of jobs.

Through strategic partnerships, the Norwegian company demonstrates its commitment to strengthening the local economy and driving innovation and job creation. Equinor has been looking for opportunities to business and new suppliers in Espírito Santo to meet the growing demands of the oil and gas industry.

Equinor Day: strengthening ties with Espírito Santo and generating jobs

The company held “Equinor Day” in collaboration with the State government, an event that consisted of a business roundtable with 62 local companies and several qualification and innovation programs. This initiative reflects Equinor's commitment to getting closer to the local market and industry and promoting the development of innovative projects and generating jobs.

The Director of Contracts and Supplies at Equinor Brasil, Rafael Tristão, highlighted the potential of Espírito Santo in the oil, gas and energy chain. Since 2020, Equinor has significantly increased its investments in local suppliers, recognizing the quality and innovation that the state can offer.

Espírito Santo is geographically well positioned and offers attractive tax incentives for companies in the sector. Equinor's presence in the state further strengthens the energy industry scenario in the region.

Renewable energy and decarbonization projects and job creation

In addition to its projects in the oil and gas sector, Equinor is also involved in research into renewable energy. In Espírito Santo, the Aracatu project, with shallow water turbines, is in the research and study phase. However, regulations need to be defined by the National Congress before these projects can move forward.

The company is committed to decarbonization and works on initiatives to reduce carbon emissions in the industry. The “Decarboniza Aí” project, led by the Federation of Industries of Espírito Santo (Findes) in partnership with the state government, aims to make the industrial sector sustainable by 2050, guiding companies in the transition to renewable energy and reducing carbon emissions.

The first steps of this project, including the use of solar energy, are expected to be launched soon, providing a clear path for the local industry to become more sustainable in the coming years. The financing notices are scheduled to be launched in the first half of 2024, marking an important step towards the decarbonization of the industry in Espírito Santo. Equinor, by actively involving itself in the local economy and promoting clean technologies, reinforces its commitment to a more sustainable future.

Hey, manufacturing and maintenance manager, with supervisory experience too? Want to learn about the oil and gas industry? Okay, but I think you're more interested in retiring from government. Or at the very least, you're one of those people who think oil is a mineral you find on the beach. Good luck with Equin.
