Commitments made between the United States and China aim to increase the proportion of renewable energy in the energy matrix by 2030.

Siemens records a loss of 4,5 billion euros from wind energy projects, reflecting the challenges faced in the sector.

The need to renew energy distributors in São Paulo is seen as urgent after a blackout in the region, emphasizing the pressure on the sector.

Recently, the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (Cade) was asked to investigate whether the Petrobras has any interest in postponing projects scheduled for 2027-2028, possibly aiming for higher energy prices Natural gas.

A Petrobras vehemently denied the postponement of the projects, known as SEAP 1 and 2, and stated that the information regarding this is false.

Since approximately three years ago, the company has been facing difficulties in contracting production units (FPSOs). In October, the state-owned company extended the date for submitting proposals to January 14 in the two charter bids for the projects.

Os United States and China announced a commitment to triple the generation of renewable energy worldwide by 2030, as part of a joint effort to combat climate change. As the biggest emitters of greenhouse gases in the world, both countries are committed to reducing their carbon footprint and promoting sustainable solutions.

Additionally, both nations agreed to advance at least five major cooperative Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) projects by 2030, as part of a joint effort to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide and other polluting substances.

Before the meeting between US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping, a statement entitled Sunnylands Statement on Enhancing Cooperation to Address the Climate Crisis was released. The meeting took place this Wednesday in San Francisco, and the leaders discussed the climate crisis and forms of cooperation to face it.

The company Siemens faces losses with its wind turbines, which forced it to develop an equipment repair and maintenance plan, in addition to reviewing its manufacturing processes and suppliers. The defects in wind turbines have already affected parks in Brazil and have generated negative impacts for the company.

The need to renew concessions is generating pressure for stricter rules for energy distributors, as stated by the president of the Brazilian Association of Distributors of Electricity (Abradee) during Sendi 2023, in Vitória (ES).

Impact of Heat on Electricity

It is undeniable that heat has a significant impact on the demand and supply of electricity. Whenever an extreme weather event occurs, such as heat waves, the commotion generated has direct influences on the energy sector.

Increased heat can result in an increase in the cost of electricity, as it is expected that it will be necessary to activate additional thermal plants to meet the growing demand. The need to activate these thermal plants can make the generation of electricity and, ultimately, directly impact tariffs for consumers.

A recent study pointed out that projections indicate that the world is heading towards a temperature increase of 2,8°C. This can have significant consequences for the climate and the environment, directly influencing the lives of billions of people around the planet. Urgent and effective measures may be needed to avoid catastrophic impacts.
