State Program Takes 82 Seniors to Tourist Destinations in São Paulo with Accommodation, Meals, and Tours Included, as Part of a Strategy That Combines Social Inclusion and Strengthening of the Regional Economy Targeting the 60+ Audience.
The São Paulo government took 82 people aged 60 and over on two free trips within the state, as part of another stage of the Tourism 60+ SP, with accommodation, meals, tours, and support included in the package offered by the state management.
On last Monday (23), 40 travelers left Rincão, in the central region, arriving in Caraguatatuba on the north coast, while another 42 residents of Mirandópolis landed in Águas de Lindóia, in the Circuito das Águas, with itineraries planned for the elderly audience.
The initiative is coordinated by the State Secretariat for Tourism and Travel, which organizes the packages and defines the schedule in the municipalities visited, with no charge to participants, but with specific rules for group formation and registration.

Itineraries of Tourism 60+ in Caraguatatuba and Águas de Lindóia
On the north coast, the itinerary for the Rincão group includes activities that combine leisure and short distances, with beach, guided city tours, panoramic rides, and a visit to Serra do Mar, within a schedule designed for the 60+ profile.

The proposal, according to the presentation of Tourism 60+, is to offer accessible attractions and professional support, aiming to reduce mobility barriers and expand the tourism experience for those who have not always had the chance to travel within their own state.
In the countryside, visitors who arrived in Águas de Lindóia have an agenda focused on traditional points of the Circuito das Águas, with a visit planned to the Municipal Spa and travel to Serra Negra to see the replica of the Fontana di Trevi.
In addition to the tours, the schedule includes cultural and entertainment activities, a format that typically appears in projects targeting the so-called “silver generation,” with interaction dynamics and options that do not require extensive travel throughout the day.
How Registration Works for the Tourism 60+ SP Program
The Tourism 60+ program does not accept individual registration from interested seniors, as the model is based on organized groups by municipalities and social entities, requiring a minimum of 30 participants, which conditions participation to collective formation in the municipality of origin.
Anyone wishing to join a group needs to contact the local municipality or the responsible entity to check if there is a group being formed, as the formal request for the trip is made by the municipal administration or the organization representing the participants.
After gathering the group, the municipality or entity submits the request on the program’s platform, indicating the desired destination and period, and waits for the analysis by the Secretariat for Tourism and Travel, responsible for authorizing and accommodating the demand in the available stages.
Although the services at the destination are funded by the State, the counterparty defined by the program establishes that transportation to the tourist municipality must be provided by the home municipality or by the group itself, according to the rules published in government announcements.

The announced priority is to serve elderly individuals who have not yet had the opportunity to know São Paulo destinations, a logic that aims to distribute spots and reach audiences with less access to travel, within the age group established in the policy.
Impact of the Silver Generation on Brazilian Tourism
The age range connects to a demographic trend that has been gaining traction in public policies and the market, as the World Health Organization points out that the population over 60 years old is expected to more than double by 2050.
In economic discussions, widely cited estimates regarding the silver economy associate the consumption of this audience with figures in the trillions of dollars per year, which includes sectors such as leisure and tourism, in addition to health, technology, and services.
In Brazil, analyses based on official projections indicate that the accelerated aging is expected to alter the age composition of the population in the coming decades, with a proportional increase in the elderly and direct impacts on social policies and consumption chains.
It is in this context that programs like Tourism 60+ seek to adjust itineraries for comfort and accessibility, while also stimulating the network of hotels, restaurants, and local services, especially in tourist municipalities in the countryside and along the coast.
By concentrating operations in groups and on trips of limited duration, the state government combines standardized logistics and predictability of service, focusing on safety, support, and planning of activities at times compatible with the served audience.
The format also allows receiving cities to organize the reception and distribute the flow of visitors, creating a concentrated demand during certain periods without relying on individual initiatives, which directly influences cultural programming and local service providers.
