Honda's new plant with GS Yuasa will produce large-scale, high-capacity, high-power lithium-ion batteries, especially for electric vehicles
A Honda and the GS Yuasa recently announced the signing of a landmark joint venture agreement to create a new leader in the high-power, high-capacity lithium-ion battery market. This strategic partnership has as its main focus the development of advanced solutions for electric vehicles, according to the website Insideevs.uol.
The two Japanese giants have been negotiating this agreement since January of this year and are excited about the prospect of establishing “Honda・GS Yuasa EV Battery R&D Co., Ltd.”, an equal (50/50) joint venture, which will be responsible for the research, development and production of innovative batteries.

The new company will unite the technical expertise of Honda, a renowned vehicle manufacturer conventional and electric vehicles, with the expertise of GS Yuasa, a technology leader of batteries. Together, they aim to accelerate technological progress and improve the efficiency of lithium-ion batteries, providing greater capacity and power to power the next generation of electric vehicles.
