Who Can Really Compete for One of These Spots?

Professionals graduated in the following areas can apply:
- Biological Sciences
- Natural Sciences
- Physics
- Mathematics
- Chemistry
- Pedagogy with mandatory action in the early years of Elementary Education
- Licentiate in Education in Rural Areas with qualification in Natural Sciences and Mathematics
The reserved spots are for candidates with disabilities, Black individuals, Indigenous people, quilombolas, transgender individuals, and people with low income. Thus, the notice reinforces the policy of academic inclusion.
What Will Students Study Over the Two Years of Training?
The program organizes its research into two main lines. Both engage with current challenges of scientific education in Brazil.
The areas of concentration are:
- Technology, Culture, and Diversity in Teaching Science and Mathematics
- Digital Technologies and Educational Practices in Teaching Science and Mathematics
This means the course discusses everything from the use of digital resources in the classroom to cultural issues that impact teaching. In addition to mandatory subjects, the student develops their own research project, which will be turned into a dissertation.
Consequently, the free master’s prepares teachers and researchers for qualified action in both basic education and higher education.
What Are the Stages of Selection and How Does Evaluation Work?
The selection occurs in three eliminatory and classificatory phases.
First, the university conducts document analysis to verify if the candidate meets the criteria outlined in the notice.
Next, the pre-research project undergoes blind evaluation. In this stage, a minimum score of 7.0 is required.
After that, approved candidates defend the pre-research project in an oral presentation conducted via Google Meet. A minimum score of 7.0 is also necessary.
The final score is calculated with a weight of 40 percent for the written project and 60 percent for the oral defense. Therefore, argumentation skills have a decisive impact on the result.
Is the Diploma Recognized and What Is the Weight of This Qualification in a Career?

Upon completing all subjects and defending the dissertation, the student receives the title of master. This diploma is valid throughout the national territory and expands possibilities for:
