Bolsa Família Maintains Vaccination Requirement and School Attendance as Condition for Additional R$ 150 of the First Childhood Benefit in 2026

Bolsa Família maintains, in 2026, the requirement to fulfill the vaccination schedule and other conditionalities to ensure the additional R$ 150 of the First Childhood Benefit, paid to families with small children within the program’s criteria.

Health Criteria Condition Bolsa Família Payments

A little-remembered criterion for families benefiting from Bolsa Família remains decisive to ensure the extra amount.

Beneficiaries enrolled in the First Childhood Benefit may have the additional R$ 150 suspended if they do not keep the vaccination schedule up to date.

To avoid blocking the Bolsa Família bonus, the government requires compliance with the National Vaccination Calendar, including the covid-19 vaccine for children from six months to under five years old.

Nutritional monitoring is also mandatory, with weight and measurement of children under seven years old, in addition to regular prenatal care for pregnant women in the family unit.

Non-compliance may result in the suspension of additional amounts.

School Attendance Is Another Requirement

In addition to health conditionalities, Bolsa Família imposes educational criteria. Children and adolescents between four and 17 years old need to maintain minimum school attendance for the family to continue receiving supplemental benefits.

Failure to meet the requirements may lead to blocking the Bolsa Família bonus, as provided in the rules of the government program.

How the Additional R$ 150 Works in Bolsa Família

The additional R$ 150 is not granted automatically. It depends on the registered family structure and follows specific criteria defined by the government.

Currently, Bolsa Família provides R$ 150 for children aged zero to six years old under the First Childhood Benefit.

There is also R$ 50 from the Variable Family Benefit for dependents aged seven to 18 years old, pregnant women, or nursing mothers.

The program also pays R$ 50 from the Nursing Benefit for families with babies up to seven months old. These amounts are added to the basic benefit, as long as the mandatory conditionalities are met.

Payment and Access to Benefit Amounts

According to the federal government, the benefit amounts are deposited in the Caixa Tem app, available for Android and iOS.

The withdrawal can be made at self-service terminals, lottery houses, Caixa Aqui correspondents, or Caixa Econômica Federal branches.

Official information about rules and conditionalities is available on the GOV.BR channels, where the program details the requirements for maintaining the benefit.
