The most photographed in the world dominate Instagram, according to a study by TUI Musement that evaluated 100 tallest skyscrapers between 2022 and June 2025, highlighting the Burj Khalifa with 8.7 million posts and a height of 828 meters.
The analysis shows that some of the most photographed buildings in the world and shared on social media coincides with landmarks of contemporary architecture. The research compared mentions on Instagram to identify which structures concentrated the highest volume of posts during the evaluated period.
The survey considered data from 2022 up to June 2025. The resulting list presented no major surprises, gathering towers widely known for their height, strategic location, and established presence in the global urban imagination.

The Burj Khalifa, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, occupies the first place among the most photographed in the world. Standing at 828 meters tall and with 163 floors, it was inaugurated in 2010, after construction began in 2004.
Originally called Burj Dubai, it is part of the emirate’s economic diversification plan aimed at tourism and business. The project was designed by Adrian Smith from the firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. It has more than 8.7 million posts on Instagram.
The building offers panoramic views of the city, the desert, and the Persian Gulf. Its height and presence on the skyline reinforce its position among the most photographed in the world, solidifying its leadership in the survey.
Empire State Building Maintains Relevance Among the Most Photographed in the World
In second place is the Empire State Building, in New York City, United States. The building is 381 meters tall, reaching 443 meters when considering the antenna.
Built between 1930 and 1931 during the Great Depression, it held the title of the world’s tallest building until 1970. In its early years, it was nicknamed the Empty State Building, as a large portion of its offices remained unoccupied.
According to the study, it registers more than 4,500,000 mentions on Instagram. Even though it is not the tallest, it remains among the most photographed in the world, reflecting its historical and symbolic relevance.
Taipei 101 Combines Tradition and Technology Among the Most Photographed in the World
In third place is Taipei 101, in Taipei, Taiwan. At 508 meters tall, it was completed in 2004 and held the title of the world’s tallest building for a period before the Burj Khalifa opened.
The project combines modern design with elements of the Chinese tradition. One of its highlights is the mass damper weighing over 600 tons, which acts as a pendulum to stabilize the tower against typhoons and earthquakes.
The building has over 913,000 mentions on Instagram. Its technical structure and visual identity help keep it among the most photographed in the world in the analysis conducted.
One World Trade Center and Willis Tower Reinforce US Presence Among the Most Photographed in the World
The One World Trade Center, in New York City, was completed in 2014 at the site of the former Twin Towers. Designed by David Childs of the firm SOM, it reaches a height of 541 meters, including the spire.
This measures 1,776 feet, a number symbolizing the year of American independence. Its square base evolves into eight isosceles triangles, creating a volume that resembles a modern obelisk. It has more than 833,000 mentions.
Meanwhile, the Willis Tower, formerly known as the Sears Tower, in Chicago, was completed in 1973 as the headquarters for Sears. It has a height of 442 meters, reaching 525 meters with antennas.
The building houses the Skydeck Ledges, glass balconies positioned 412 meters above ground. The structure records over 590,000 mentions, ranking among the most photographed in the world in the annual analysis.

The Petronas Towers, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, were inaugurated in 1998. Designed by César Pelli, they each stand 452 meters tall and were among the tallest in the world until 2004.
The suspended bridge connecting the towers is located 170 meters above ground. The structure is not fixed, allowing sliding to withstand wind. They gather over 294,000 mentions on Instagram.
The One Vanderbilt, in New York City, was completed in 2020 and has a height of 427 meters. Designed by the Kohn Pedersen Fox studio, it was conceived with a focus on sustainability.

Closing the list is the Shanghai Tower, completed in 2015. Standing at 632 meters tall and with 128 floors, it is the tallest building in China and the second tallest in the world.
Its double-layered façade rotates approximately 120 degrees along its elevation. The spiral shape reduces wind resistance by 24%, saving millions of dollars in structural materials.
The tower houses the fastest elevator in the world, reaching 20.5 m/s, about 74 km/h. It has been mentioned more than 114,000 times on Instagram, rounding out the ranking of the most photographed in the world analyzed in the study.
