Construction project in the North Vector of Greater Belo Horizonte brings together retail, leisure, and services in a large-scale project, with an expected inauguration in 2027 and integration into a real estate complex planned for the region.
The Shopping Lagoa Santa is under construction in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte and is expected to open in the second half of 2027.
The project involves an estimated investment of R$ 400 million and is expected to have more than 90 stores, about 32 thousand square meters of gross leasable area, and 1,700 parking spaces, according to information released by the project leaders and the City Hall of Lagoa Santa.
The organizers estimate that the shopping center could generate approximately 3,000 direct and indirect jobs.

The project was publicly launched in March 2026 and is part of a broader plan for occupation and services in the North Vector of Greater Belo Horizonte.
The shopping center will be located along the Linha Verde, on the border of Lagoa Santa with Vespasiano, about ten minutes from the Belo Horizonte International Airport in Confins.
According to the investors, the location was chosen to serve residents and consumers from cities in the region, as well as people passing through the airport terminal area.
Currently, part of the leisure, shopping, and convenience services sought by this audience is still concentrated in Belo Horizonte and other municipalities in the Metropolitan Region.
In this context, the new shopping center was presented as an alternative to expand the local supply of retail and entertainment.
Shopping Lagoa Santa will have cinemas, anchor stores, and services
The project includes retail, food, leisure, and service operations.
Among the announced spaces are five cinema halls from the Cineart Multiplex chain, a children’s area, an outdoor boulevard, a pet park, and a gourmet area with restaurants.
In the commercial area, seven anchor stores are also planned, along with a gym, college, and party house.
The entrepreneurs reported that they are in negotiations to host a unit of Supermercados BH in a differentiated format and to attract chains like Renner and C&A.
So far, however, the public materials consulted indicate negotiations for part of these operations, without full details on all contracts already formalized.
Therefore, the final composition of the mix of stores and services may be confirmed as the construction progresses and during the commercialization phase.
The proposal released by the responsible parties is to gather, in one location, consumption activities and everyday services.
In addition to the stores, the design of the project includes areas for the public to stay and for operations that go beyond traditional retail.

Real estate complex next to the shopping center includes hotel and convention center
The shopping center is part of a larger real estate plan for the region.
Next to it, the implementation of WTC Minas Gerais is planned, a multi-use project with over 100,000 square meters, three towers, hotel, residential and commercial areas, convention center, amphitheater, and helipad, according to information released at the official launch.
According to institutional materials and information presented to the press, the proposal is for the complex to function as a hub for services, business, and events.
Together, the shopping center and the associated complex are expected to reach about 200,000 square meters of gross area.
The presence of the airport and the urban expansion of the North Vector are among the elements cited by investors to justify the choice of the area.
The surroundings of Lagoa Santa, Vespasiano, and Confins have seen new residential and commercial developments in recent years, which has increased the flow of residents and consumers in the region.
Investment of R$ 400 million and job forecast in the North Vector
The developers of the shopping center estimate R$ 500 million in sales in the first year of operation.
This projection was presented along with the announcement that the project should serve not only Lagoa Santa but also neighboring municipalities and part of the audience that circulates around the airport.
The management company linked to the project reported operating 33 shopping centers in nine states, with about 900,000 square meters of gross leasable area.
This data was used by investors to support the capacity for implementing and managing the new shopping center in Minas Gerais.
Although the project is still under construction, it is already being treated by the municipal administration and investors as one of the main fronts for economic expansion underway in the city.
The expectation released by these groups is that the combination of shopping center, hotel, convention center, towers, and services will enhance commercial and real estate activity in the surrounding area.
With an expected inauguration in 2027, the Shopping Lagoa Santa is set to change the retail, leisure, and service offerings in the North Vector of the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte.
However, the extent of this impact will depend on the progress of construction, the confirmation of the announced operations, and the actual public engagement after the opening.
