The Scheduled Shutdown of the Mataripe Refinery Will Be Essential for New Operational Improvements That Will Ensure Higher Quality in Production. The New Contract Between Acelen and Tenenge Provides for the Supply of Cutting-Edge Maintenance Services for the Structure.

In recent days, the national fuel market gained another large contract in Brazil. This is the agreement between Acelen and Tenenge for the supply of maintenance services during the scheduled shutdown of the Mataripe Refinery in Bahia. Acelen aims to bring more quality to the production of petroleum derivatives in the facility. To achieve this, it will rely on Tenenge’s cutting-edge technology during the project development.

Tenenge Will Be Responsible for Providing Maintenance Services During Acelen’s Scheduled Shutdown at the Mataripe Refinery

The company Tenenge has just signed an important contract for the Brazilian oil and natural gas sector, this time with Acelen.

The operator of the Mataripe Refinery, one of the largest fuel refining assets in the country, intends to take advantage of Tenenge’s operational services over the coming months.

The contract establishes the supply of maintenance services for Acelen’s scheduled shutdown at the refinery located in the state of Bahia.

The processing and refining plant for petroleum and natural gas derivatives is undergoing a modernization and structural reform project.

With this, Acelen aims to bring higher quality to its product output and further expand its presence in the global market.

Thus, Tenenge’s maintenance services will ensure even higher operational quality to achieve this goal.

“Tenenge’s work enters the new phase of scheduled shutdowns, allowing for improvement services in special units and various equipment, enabling operations with greater energy efficiency, one of Acelen’s ESG agendas,” Tenenge commented in a statement.

Acelen Has Been Managing the Mataripe Refinery for Only a Few Months but Is Looking to Leverage This Moment to Expand Its Market Presence

To recall, the Mataripe Refinery and its logistical assets, including the Madre de Deus Terminal, were sold by Petrobras in 2021 to the Mubadala group as part of the state-owned company’s divestment plan.

However, in December 2021, Acelen, created by Mubadala Capital and a subsidiary of Mubadala Investment Company, took control of the refinery.

Since then, it has been investing in expansion strategies for the Mataripe Refinery in the national market. The maintenance service supply contract with Tenenge is just part of this project.

Throughout October, Acelen announced the start of butane sales in the Brazilian market, following the strategy to expand the company’s operations by diversifying its production line.

The company’s Vice President of Commercial and Trading, Cristiano da Costa, explained at the time, “Our expectation is to replace 10% of this market with Brazilian product. Acelen is fully capable of competing with a quality product, greater supply consistency, and accessibility to the Brazilian market.”

Thus, the company is reinforcing its commitment to diversify the Mataripe Refinery’s portfolio and make it the major refining asset for petroleum derivatives in Brazil.

However, a series of structural reforms and operational modernization will be necessary, which will take place during the maintenance shutdown with Tenenge.
