Starlink Promises to Launch Advanced Technology for the Fastest Internet in the World via Satellite Accessible Globally, Including in Remote Areas.
We will soon be able to make calls and use mobile internet through Starlink satellites and not just through regular cell towers, meaning we will no longer depend on antennas, and can use satellite internet. This option has some advantages, such as its greater coverage, allowing internet usage from anywhere as if you were at home.
Get to Know Starlink Technology Better
According to information from the United States, SpaceX is driving the program to put the largest number of satellites into orbit possible by next year. This is related not only to the standard Starlink connection but also to the possibility of connecting smartphones for satellite internet.
The company claims that its satellites with “Direct To Cell” will allow users to send text messages, make calls, and browse the web wherever they are. Whether on land, lakes, or coastal waters, in the open sea, cell phone connection is still not possible, but it will be possible to use the service from places never imagined by man.

In 2024, the expectation from Elon Musk‘s company aims to offer text messaging over the phone, and by 2025 voice calls and mobile data, as well as connectivity with IoT devices. Starlink states that satellite internet technology will work on any device that has 4G and in any place with access to the sky, which means the service will be limited if you are indoors or even under a roof, as it will basically function like an antenna.
The important thing is that the company indicates this is new technology and that there is no need for specific or different hardware or even apps to use the satellite internet connection, requiring only a subscription plan with a partner carrier.
How Does Starlink Satellite Internet Work?
According to official information on the company’s website, the Starlink satellites that operate the Direct to Cell service are equipped with a super advanced eNodeB modem that acts as a cell tower in space, enabling a simulated connection with standard cell carriers.
This modem is the basic architecture for radio communication that enables 4G, used by various carriers such as Vivo, Claro, and Tim. Being a modular communication structure, it can also function in space, where the satellites are positioned.
This architecture, combined with the fact that Elon Musk’s company’s satellites are closer to the earth than conventional satellites, allows users to have connectivity in more remote areas known as DeadZones, or even in shadow areas in large cities.
New Technology Can Help Save Lives
Elon Musk himself stated that this technology can help save lives if a person is in a remote location. However, it is important to note that the expectation is that satellite internet connection will be around 2 to 4 MB per second and so far, Starlink has not provided more information about speed or concrete details to be confirmed.
The official website also states that SpaceX is already working on the rockets that will take the new Starlink satellites with the Direct to Cell technology into space.
The satellites will ride on the Falcon 9 rocket and then on Starchip, and when they are in orbit, they will automatically connect with the entire network of Starlinks operating in the sky. As for partnerships, what is known is that some global carriers have already allied with Starlink, including carriers from Japan, the United States, Australia, Canada, and others.
