More than 40 years of visual identity
BR Distribuidora, which is now Vibra Energia, was created in November 1971, focusing on the market for the distribution of fuels derived from petroleum and fuel alcohol.
At the time, the company's first logo was designed by Aloísio Magalhães (1927 – 1982), a great designer who contributed to the creation of the Superior School of Industrial Design in Rio de Janeiro and is considered a vanguard professional in introducing modern design to the country.
About 11 years later, in 1982, the BR Distribuidora brand was modernized, also by the hands of Aloísio Magalhães. This time, the logo of the fuel distributor gained the contours it has today and which have been used by BR Distribuidora for the last 40 years.
Vibra Energia talks about the new brand
In a statement to the market, Vibra Energia, which received the name due to the privatization process, stated that the new brand aims to guide the customer in the trust that connects, constant evolution and genuine partnerships.
According to Vibra Energia, the name and design refer to the constant movement that is needed to leverage businesses and people, without giving up referring to a Brazil that performs, does and goes beyond.
This will not yet be the definitive end of the “BR” of the fuel company. In the vehicle market, Vibra Energia is licensed under the Petrobras brand and will continue with the visual identity and “BR” symbol, producing a network of at least 8,3 gas stations across the country.
privatization of the company
In July 2019, the company was privatized with the sale of share control on the stock exchange, making BR Distribuidora a private company. Petrobras, which carried out the sale, still held 37,5% of the company's shares, without ruling out the sale of the remainder.
According to Roberto Castelo Branco, president of Petrobras at the time, the company would focus on exploration and production of oil and gas, giving up other operations, however the plans were changed and the company will also focus on energy.
A year after the privatization, in July 2021, Petrobras disposed of the remaining part of the company's shares. In total, over 436 million shares were sold, moving a total of R$ 11,3 billion with investment fund.
