With Support from Conab, Small Producers in Mato Grosso Sell 22 Tons of Food, Strengthening Family Farming in Mato Grosso and Promoting Food and Nutritional Security for Vulnerable Communities
On the first day of delivery to the CRAS (Reference Center for Social Assistance) in São José dos Quatro Marcos (MT), a significant movement was observed: family farming in Mato Grosso is central to the initiative involving 22 tons of fruits, vegetables, and legumes.
This action mobilizes 22 local farmers, who sell their products through the Food Acquisition Program (PAA), with resources from Conab, according to a report published.
The challenge of food and nutritional insecurity motivates institutions like CRAS to receive this support at a crucial time for vulnerable families.

Food Purchases by Conab Strengthen Local Network
The Simultaneous Donation Purchase (CDS) modality allows Conab to acquire items directly from farmers and pass them to CRAS.
In this scheme, approximately R$ 220,000 were allocated to the program, a financial volume that provides economic support to the rural producer.
This strategy directly links food purchases by Conab to the appreciation of local production, generating positive economic and social effects, which further strengthens family farming in Mato Grosso.
The Rural Producers Association of the São João da Figueirinha Community comprises the 22 benefiting farmers.
They will sell the food over a nine-month period, with staggered deliveries to CRAS. At each stage, rural producers in Mato Grosso ensure income and visibility for their work.
This approach allows local families to participate in the institutional market, with predictability and public support.
Promotion of Food and Nutritional Security in the Served Regions
The ultimate goal is to reinforce food and nutritional security in communities served by CRAS, benefiting about 2,400 people in vulnerable situations.
With the PAA, the food purchased by Conab goes directly to support social networks, ensuring meals with fresh and nutritious ingredients. The strategy combines the social goal with local production, sustaining a virtuous cycle.
In developing this plan, the Food Acquisition Program PAA plays a central role, connecting the state to the family farmer.
This program, which has been in place for over 20 years under the Fome Zero initiative, operates in coordination with ministries and entities like Conab and is executed in partnership with states and municipalities.
The operation provides that food is destined for community kitchens, popular restaurants, or directly to social assistance institutions.
Rural Producers in Mato Grosso Gain Visibility
Each stage of this process highlights how family farming in Mato Grosso intersects with public policies and social mechanisms.
From the moment of harvesting to the transfer to beneficiaries, the link between local production and the mission to ensure dignified food becomes clear.
The cycle involves institutional trust, distribution logistics, and commitment to vulnerable communities.
By projecting execution over nine months with a fixed volume of 22 tons, it is expected to replicate the experience in other municipalities, expanding impact and visibility.
The proposal highlights that family farming in Mato Grosso has a direct influence on its community, promoting livelihood, citizenship, and food dignity for all.
