The family farming in Rio Grande do Norte has stood out as a driving force of sustainable rural development, especially with the support of the National Supply Company (Conab), according to a report published.
On October 24 and 25, the state hosted the II Fair and Exhibit of Land Reform Products at the Patativa do Assaré Socio-Educational Center in Ceará-Mirim (RN).
Conab’s presence reinforced the commitment to family farmers and settlers through actions that combine economic incentives, social inclusion, and appreciation of local production.

While Russia dominates the global wheat market, Brazil emerges as an unexpected competitor in the Cerrado, offering grain available in July and August when stocks in the Northern Hemisphere are at their lowest point of the year.
-
China returned almost 20 Brazilian ships with soybeans, but now everything could change: the country that buys 80% of the grain is considering relaxing regulations after impurities held up shipments of thousands of tons and caused million-dollar losses.

The drought of the cerrado was considered an enemy of wheat, but Brazilian scientists turned the lack of rain into a competitive advantage by creating a grain with quality that is already attracting the attention of international mills around the world.
The event brought together rural producers, associations, and cooperatives that showcased sustainably grown foods, as well as products derived from organic agriculture.
During the program, Conab provided technical assistance and promoted registration updates for small producers in the Sales at Counter Program (ProVB).
The Company also offered 9 tons of corn, made available directly to the farmers present, strengthening food security and supply in the countryside.
Conab Expands Opportunities with the Food Acquisition Program and Family Farming in Rio Grande do Norte
Among the most impactful actions by Conab during the fair was the symbolic signing of the Terms of Pact for Family Farming (TPAF), which formalizes the integration of new projects into the Food Acquisition Program (PAA).
The measure allocated R$ 3 million to initiatives aimed at strengthening family farming in Rio Grande do Norte, ensuring that land reform settlements can sell their products with institutional support and fair pricing.
The initiative helps to expand farmers’ access to government programs and secure income for hundreds of rural families.
In addition, the PAA stimulates local production and the supply of healthy food to schools and social entities in the state, promoting a sustainable cycle between production, consumption, and citizenship.
Strengthening Land Reform and Rural Economy in Rio Grande do Norte
The fair featured the participation of Conab’s regional superintendent, Sebastião José de Arruda Junior, who attended the Company’s activities and spoke with rural leaders about the strategic role of public policies in the field.
The space was a stage for discussions on land reform, solidarity economy, and sustainability, as well as cultural activities that valued the way of life in rural communities.
Through these actions aimed at fostering family farming in Rio Grande do Norte, Conab reinforces its presence among the beneficiaries of land reform, creating growth opportunities and consolidating a productive model based on cooperation and social development.
This proximity allows programs like ProVB and PAA to reach small producers more effectively, who are the foundation of the rural economy in Rio Grande do Norte.
