Promoting Social Inclusion of Small Rural Producers and Microentrepreneurs from the Main Brazilian Metropolitan Regions. The Action Is Within the Concept We Call, in Economics, Peripheral Urban Entrepreneurship.

Businesses in which the managers are people who live and interact in peripheral areas, and their communities are territories that exist in a vulnerable economic and social context. This is what Aipê – Alliance for Productive Inclusion – seeks, an alliance where philanthropic entities, together with the BNDES – National Bank for Economic Development, is launching public calls for project selection.

The Aipê includes Votorantim Institute, Arymax Foundation, Tide Setubal Foundation, Heineken Institute, Humanize Institute, and Santander Bank, through the SANB11 entry. The Alliance also has the support of B3 Social, a company that integrates and coordinates private social investment projects at B3 – Brazil, Stock Exchange and Over-the-Counter -, and Ambev, through the ABEV3 entry.

Initially, there are two calls, and applications can be made on the Alliance’s website until March 20. In each, the entities contribute R$ 2 million, and BNDES adds another R$ 2 million, totaling a distribution of R$ 4 million.

For one of the calls, entitled Inclusive Rural Businesses, the submitted projects can request a maximum of R$ 700 thousand. They must contain solutions that promote autonomy for producers in vulnerable socioeconomic situations. It aims to reach intermediary entities and groups of low-income rural producers organized in associations and cooperatives, or small groups. Experience of 2 years in working with inclusive businesses in the project’s territory, not having a profit motive, and having the base team located in the territory are also requirements for participating in the call. Call for the North or Northeast regions.

The other call, aimed at supporting entrepreneurship, the amount per submitted project cannot exceed R$ 400 thousand. And the projects must necessarily support actions developed in metropolitan areas and in peripheral cities of the main capitals of Brazil. Nonprofit intermediary organizations with a proven experience of at least 2 years in peripheral entrepreneurship can participate.

Strengthening Civil Society

As a purpose to strengthen investments, seeking to broaden impacts that lead to an increase in the number and quality of ventures, and employability for the most vulnerable. Aipê is committed to investing in productive inclusion. Thus, the Alliance believes that, guided by impact and the common good, there will be more opportunities available and less inequality. Work and income are necessary for that.

To achieve this, multiple actors have united in seeking to open and strengthen paths where justice is the watchword, capable of extracting diverse knowledge and experiences, where everyone can find appropriate opportunities, in accordance with the concepts of productive inclusion.

This is because, for the Alliance, peripheral urban entrepreneurship is one of those actions capable of strengthening the generation of work and income. And thus, those who need it most will have their lives improved, and everyone around them will also benefit from possibilities for future prosperity.
