Great Wall Motors Prepares For Its Debut In The Brazilian Market And Asserted In Advance That It Will Not Be With Pickups, But With Electric And Hybrid Cars. The Chinese Manufacturer Highlighted That It Will Invest R$ 4 Billion To Produce 100 Thousand Vehicles Annually In Brazil

Great Wall Motors (GWM) has already set its strategy to enter the Brazilian market and it will not be with any pickup, as is being reported on social media, but rather with electric and hybrid cars. The automaker’s plan in Brazil will begin after the formal transfer of the Iracemápolis unit, located in the interior of São Paulo, which will take place between December 13 and 17.

Great Wall Motors: Iracemápolis Will Receive Investments Of R$ 4 Billion With An Estimate To Produce 100 Thousand Vehicles Per Year

The Director Of Government And External Relations Of Great Wall Motors, Pedro Betancourt, Stated That The Company Will Have Hybrid And Electric Cars Right At The Start Of Its Operations In The Country.

The Executive Emphasized That There Will Be Nationalization In The Company’s Portfolio. Betancourt Explains That The Global Strategy Of Great Wall Motors Is Based On Constant Innovation And The Domestic Market Will Be No Different. Therefore, The Company Will Not Have “Tropicalized” Products, Which Are Designed Exclusively For Brazil.

The GWM Will Offer The Best From Abroad, So It Is Natural That There Will Be Electric And Hybrid Cars Here. With Part Of This Portfolio Of Hybrids And Electrics Being Produced In Iracemápolis, Which Will Receive Investments Of R$ 4 Billion To Increase Its Production Up To 100 Thousand Cars Per Year, Great Wall Motors Aims To Enter The Brazilian Market Strongly, Disturbing The Competition.

Production Of Electric And Hybrid Cars Will Start In Mid-2023

In The Brazilian Market, Great Wall Motors Models Will Arrive In The First Half Of Next Year Being Imported; However, Domestic Production Is Expected To Begin Only In Early 2023. An Interesting Detail Is Betancourt’s Statement Regarding The Speed At Which The Company Would Like To Enter The Country.

The Executive Stated That When Acquiring The Mercedes Benz Factory, The Company Bought Only Fixed Assets And Not Operational Licenses, Existing Permits, And Billing Systems. Therefore, It Will Be Necessary To Start From Scratch To Obtain All Of This.

Betancourt States That He Has Already Faced A Lot Of Bureaucracy, As Sometimes Things Simply Do Not Progress. Thus, It Became Clear That Great Wall Motors Wanted To Acquire An Already Established Brand In Brazil, With Everything Operational.

Find Out Which Electric And Hybrid Models Will Arrive In Brazil

Betancourt Did Not Confirm Any Specific Details About The Models; However, It Is Possible To Have A Basis. GWM Has Registered Patents For Some Products In The Country, But In Its Global Range, It Could Include Electric Models From ORA, Mainly Highlighting The R1, R2, R3.

Another Electric That Would Draw Attention Here Would Be The Punk Cat, Which Is A Bit Like A Modern Beetle. When It Comes To Hybrid Cars, The Wey Macchiato Has Also Been Registered And Could Come Under The Haval Brand, As Well As The H6, Another Possible Competitor In The Domestic Market.

Even With A Large Portfolio And Four Brands, GWM Has Only One Dilemma: Determining What Will Be Best For Brazilian Consumers, Given That There Are Numerous Possibilities.
