Aiming to Take Advantage of the High Potential for Energy Production by Using Natural Gas as the Base for Power Plants, Âmbar Energia Made an Investment of R$ 900 Million in Four Thermoelectric Plants in Cuiabá and Will Inaugurate Them This Month.

The energy transition scenario in Brazil is growing, and Âmbar Energia, a subsidiary of J&F, continues this Tuesday (07/12) with its investment plan in natural gas-based energy in the country. To this end, the company invested R$ 900 million in the construction of four natural gas thermoelectric plants in Cuiabá, in the state of Mato Grosso, and will inaugurate the structures this month.

Four New Natural Gas Thermoelectric Plants Will Be Inaugurated by Âmbar Energia in the State of Mato Grosso After Investment of R$ 900 Million

Âmbar Energia, a subsidiary of the J&F group focused on energy and energy transition in Brazil, made yet another million-dollar investment in this segment, applying R$ 900 million for the construction of four new natural gas thermoelectric plants. The structures were built in Cuiabá, in the state of Mato Grosso, and are expected to be inaugurated this July to start energy production as soon as possible.

Furthermore, the company highlighted that, when combined, the four natural gas thermoelectric plants guarantee a total of 326 megawatts of power, a very high number for the company’s energy usage. In addition, Âmbar Energia provided more details about the plants and stated that they are being completed alongside the Mário Covas Thermoelectric Plant, which is already part of the J&F group subsidiary.

Thus, Âmbar Energia not only ensures expansion in the energy sector in Brazilian territory, but also contributes to socioeconomic growth in the state of Mato Grosso. This is because the park in Cuiabá is now becoming the largest for the company and one of the largest in the country in natural gas energy generation capacity, with a total of 855 MW.

New Natural Gas Thermoelectric Plants from Âmbar Energia Are Part of the Plan to Ensure Security to the National Interconnected Energy System

Âmbar Energia’s presence in the state of Mato Grosso is increasing, and in the territory of the Cuiabá park, the largest for the company in Brazil, the complex has its own gas pipeline that stretches 645 kilometers, connecting the complex directly to Bolivia’s reserves, the largest gas supplier in Brazil. Thus, the company ensures much greater agility and efficiency in transporting natural gas for energy production with this structural investment.

Additionally, the company emphasized that the million-dollar investment in constructing the new natural gas power plants in the state was made to meet the emergency auction of 2021, which anticipated the procurement of energy in reserve mode. Therefore, the thermoelectric plants will contribute to ensure more security to the National Interconnected Energy System in the national territory.

Finally, Âmbar Energia highlighted that the period for fulfilling the energy contract supplies extends from this year 2022 until the end of 2025, around December.
