Ambev’s Glass Factory in Paraná Strengthens Premium Beers and Marks New Industrial Investment in Brazil.

Ambev opened a new glass factory in Carambeí, Paraná, following an industrial investment of around R$ 1 billion, aimed at strengthening its own packaging production, increasing the competitiveness of premium beers, and consolidating its leadership in the Brazilian beer market.

The unit is already in operation, uses recycled glass in the production process, and is part of a broader strategy to gain scale and efficiency against competition.

With the new glass factory, Ambev now produces 60% of all the glass used in its operations in the country internally.

Before the inauguration of the Paraná plant, this rate was 44%. Thus, the company reduces its dependence on external suppliers, gains logistical predictability, and strengthens its production chain.

Industrial Investment Strengthens Strategy in the Premium Segment

The billion-dollar investment reinforces Ambev’s decision to focus efforts on the higher value-added segment.

Currently, the company’s premium beers include labels such as Corona, Stella Artois, Original, and Spaten, which directly compete with Heineken brands in the national market.

According to the company, the premium segment is showing consistent growth, especially in long neck packaging.

This movement aligns with changes in consumer behavior, which seeks greater diversity, brand experience, and perceived quality.

Production Capacity and Use of Recycled Glass

According to Diário da Região, the new factory installed in Carambeí has the capacity to produce up to 600 million green bottles per year, mainly for the Spaten and Stella Artois brands.

Each production line operates at an average speed of 450 bottles per minute, ensuring high industrial efficiency.

Furthermore, about 40% of the glass currently used is recycled.

Ambev’s goal is to increase this percentage to 80% by next year, reinforcing environmental commitments and aligning industrial investment with sustainability practices.

Regional Impact and Job Creation

The establishment of the glass factory has also brought direct impacts on the local economy.

The new unit generated approximately 400 direct and indirect jobs in the Campos Gerais region, strengthening industrial activity in the interior of Paraná.

Meanwhile, local suppliers, logistics companies, and services began to integrate into Ambev’s production chain.

Growth of Premium Beers in the Brazilian Beer Market

According to data released by the company itself, Ambev’s premium segment recorded an annual growth of 15% in the third quarter of this year.

With this performance, the company surpassed Heineken and assumed the leadership in the premium segment within the Brazilian beer market.

This advancement reinforces the importance of investing in its own production capacity, especially in packaging, which is strategic for maintaining scale, reducing costs, and meeting growing demand.

Business Trajectory and the Role of Jorge Paulo Lemann

The history of Ambev is directly linked to businessman Jorge Paulo Lemann, one of its founders.

He began his journey in the sector by acquiring the Brahma brewery in the late 1970s and early 1980s, along with a group of partners.

Afterward, Brahma merged with Antarctica, forming Ambev.

Years later, the company underwent another merger with Belgian Interbrew, giving rise to one of the largest breweries in the world.

According to Forbes magazine, Lemann has an estimated net worth of R$ 88 billion, ranking third among the richest Brazilians.

Long-Term Strategy and Industrial Competitiveness

Therefore, the inauguration of the glass factory in Carambeí represents not just a new industrial asset.

The project reinforces Ambev’s strategy to vertically integrate its production, enhance the competitiveness of premium beers, and sustain growth in the national market.

Thus, by investing in technology, sustainability, and production scale, the company positions itself more robustly against the competition and signals confidence in the potential for the Brazilian beer market to expand in the coming years.
