Couple Presenters Transform 185-Year-Old Historic Property Into Future Home and Wedding Venue, Preserving Original Elements and Revealing Curiosities About Life in the Country in the Past.

The presenter Ana Hickmann and chef Edu Guedes are in the midst of an exciting restoration journey of the Casa Gialla, a historic property located in Leme, in the interior of São Paulo.

Built around 1840, the old Fazenda São Bento is approximately 185 years old and will serve as the backdrop for the couple’s wedding, as well as becoming their new family refuge for days of rest.

The renovation project has been shared by the presenters on their YouTube channel, named Casa Gialla Di Ana Edu. The goal is to preserve as much of the property’s original architecture as possible, which includes wooden floors, doors, windows, and century-old furniture, while incorporating modern and contemporary elements into the decor.

The chosen name, Casa Gialla, which means “Yellow House” in Italian, reflects the couple’s cultural heritage and symbolizes joy and positive energy.

Quirky Discoveries During the Renovation of the Historic Farm

During the videos published to showcase the property, Ana and Edu revealed unusual details found inside the house. One of the most entertaining moments was the discovery of several antique urinals scattered around the rooms. The presenter and chef found various antique objects during the tour of the mansion, including hangers, trunks, frames, and urinals.

Ana took the discovery as an opportunity to reminisce about cherished childhood memories. The communicator recalled the times she visited her grandmother in the countryside when bathrooms were outside the house and each person had their own urinal under the bed to avoid going out at night. “But this one is a fancy urinal because it has a lid,” the presenter joked while showing one of the specimens found on the farm.

These antique pieces are part of the property’s history and reflect what life was like on Brazilian farms nearly two centuries ago. The presence of these items reinforces the couple’s commitment to preserving the memory and essence of the place.

Renovation Preserves Original Elements and Adds Modern Touches

According to information released by the couple, Edu advocated for preserving as many original elements of the house as possible, while Ana stated that the idea is to mix the old with the modern, keeping as much originality as possible with contemporary furniture. The Portuguese tiles in the bathroom, for example, will remain intact, just like the thick walls of the original kitchen designed to withstand the region’s heat.

According to information from Portal Leo Dias, the property impresses with its architecture and history, with the couple preserving century-old elements such as floors, doors, windows, and wooden furniture that need restoration. However, some significant changes are necessary: the bathroom furniture will need adaptations to fit the new design, and Ana has already revealed the desire to replace the chandeliers with more modern models.

The couple also plans to transform some of the rooms into complete suites, adding private bathrooms. With a height of 1.85m, Ana joked about the size of the original doors that, even though they are tall, make the presenter look small. “I like big things!” Ana remarked while commenting on the proportions of the mansion.

Family Furniture Gains a New Life in the Casa Gialla

One of the most exciting aspects of the renovation is the incorporation of antique furniture that belonged to Edu Guedes’ family. Among the chosen pieces are a table and lamps inherited from the presenter’s grandfather, which are between 60 and 70 years old. These pieces are being carefully restored by Ana to be part of the decor of the new home.

“My father will be happy to see the ends she’s giving to the furniture. Or a new beginning, right,” Edu commented in one of the videos published on the channel. This decision to include family objects adds a special layer of meaning to the project, uniting the couple’s personal stories with the century-old history of the property.

The farm has a large internal area that includes a covered garden, as well as a dining room with a wooden table for 10 people. The property also has a stable, frequently visited by Ana to care for her horses, turning Casa Gialla into a true rural retreat.

Historic House Will Be the Stage for the Wedding and Family Life

Presenter Ana Hickmann and chef Edu Guedes plan to hold their wedding at the property in 2025. The exact date has not yet been set and depends on the completion of the renovations, especially landscaping. Ana revealed that she prefers to wait for the perfect moment to schedule the ceremony, avoiding frustrations with possible construction delays.

The presenter announced that a specific tree on the property will be very special for the couple’s wedding. There are reports that there is a camellia tree on the grounds that, according to the former owners, was a gift from Princess Isabel during a visit to the farm, related to the granting of freedom, as reported by O Popular de Leme.

The couple has already defined the rooms for the family: there will be specific spaces for Ana and Edu, as well as rooms for Alezinho, Ana’s son, and Maria Eduarda, Edu’s daughter. There are also plans to include a library on the property and rethink the function of some rooms, giving new uses to the various spaces of the mansion.

Casa Gialla represents much more than an architectural renovation for Ana Hickmann and Edu Guedes. It is a project that unites the past and present, tradition and modernity, family histories, and new memories. With more than 150 years of existence and nearly two centuries of history, the property is preparing to host a new family and continue its journey, now documented on social media for thousands of fans to follow every detail of this transformation.

And you, what do you think about this trend of renovating historic houses while preserving original elements? Would you undertake a renovation like this, or would you prefer to start from scratch with something entirely modern? Share your opinion in the comments!
